you take them when your doctor thinks is best based on your particular cycle. there are a couple different methods on when to start. your doctor should discuss it with you.

CLOMID USERS! Look at this article!? Wednesday, October 3rd Page A12 Article 4 Arlington CE Gazette
Fertility Drug Being Linked To Infertility
A common fertility drug is now being linked to a multitude of ferility problems in a new study by the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMBC). Women trying to conceive a child were studied, along with women with a history of fertility problems. A large part of the women that were prescribed this drug experienced damage to their ovaries, swollen ovaries, and a few had to get surgeries to correct the damages. A few years back, these problems were also being experienced by users, but were not thought to be linked to the fertility issues. This drug has in turn hurt women's chances of conceiving, as opposed to help.
It is a widely prescribed drug, and it is handed out to most any woman seeking fertility drugs, whether it is truly needed or not. It is very common in the US. The few women who were able to conceive while on the drug did so within a few months,
is this true im taking it this month

Don't know, but I have heard you're limited to like 6 cycles of Clomid or something bc it ups your chances of ovarian cancer (I think that is what cancer it is.).

Hello to all! Me and my husband have been trying to concieve for 20 months. I have a beautiful 20 month old daughter that I concieved on my own... I went to my Doctor this week and he did an ultrasound... thinks I have endo. He put me on Clomid for 4-5 cycles and if we do not concieve we will do a lap. What is anybody's advice about that? Has anybody gotten pregnant from Clomid alone?

I have an aversion to Clomid: before being diagnosed with endo, I went to my doc and about not being able to conceive despite trying for 3 years. I also had some symptoms of endo and told her that I suspected I was having the fertility issues because I thought I had endo, but she brushed my 'self-diagnosis' aside and put me on Clomid. One month later, I got pregnant but also suffered a miscarriage at 12 1/2 weeks due to ectopic pregnancy. While undergoing emergency surgery for that, she (my ob/gyn who was also the one who performed the surgery) discovered that my initial suspicions of having endo were right and I had to have my right fallopian tube and ovary removed because of the condition they were in due to endo.
I personally feel that anyone who is TTC should have their endo treated before going on Clomid, whether it be by lap, lupron or otherwise. You could avoid a potentially traumatic miscarriage if your ovaries or tubes aren't as healthy as they should due to cysts, scarring or adhesions and could be and are at risk of an ectopic pregnancy if you force it to happen with Clomid.
For those of you who have had successful pregnancies after taking Clomid, congratulations! I guess every body is different but wanted to share my personal experience with it.

Ok this question isn't about me but a friend and it seemed a little sketchy to me. She has PCOS and the Dr. supposidly put her on clomid to help regulate her period. She is not trying to conceive!!! I have never heard of clomid being used for this reason and thought it was very strange since clomid is a fertility drug and is usually only prescribed for 3-6 months.
Does anyone know if clomid can be used for other reasons besides conception... or has any one with PCOS ever been prescriobed this for regulating periods only?
