Hi I am booked in for surgery on the 21st March and thankfully have found this site. I am really sacred and feel overwhelmed with all the information. I had a scan of my uterus and ovaries and that was clear, but nothing seems to be conclusive, with stories of endo coming back making me wonder why bother going thru the surgery..... Also this site says that MDs recommend that after surgery that it is best to try 6-9 months afterwards for a child. Is there anyone who has had any experience with this Thanks for your time and would be grateful for advice/experiences posted.

I just had a laparoscopy done this past Monday (the 14th) for the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis, and it really wasn't as big of a deal as I thought it would be. It's been less than a week and I only experience pain if I put pressure directly on the incision sites, and I had resumed all normal activities by the third day. I actually realized that most of my discomfort following the surgery was psychological - I expected to be in pain, so I was in pain.
I had a menstrual cycle immediately following my surgery, and experiencing virtually no pain with that just further convinced me that it was worth it. Of course I know that it may return, but because of the severity of my endo (following surgery the dr. said that because of the number and locations of the adhesions, it must have felt like I was going into labor every month) I don't have any regrets. I feel that any break in my normal cycle is worth it, and only you yourself can really come to that conclusion.
Also, because I've yet to enter my child-bearing years (I'm 18), the doctor explained that the surgery might have even helped to prevent problems with feritlity down that road.
I hope everything goes well for you.

My laproscope was okay. I had what seemed like gas pain (bloating) for about 4-5 days after. I was prescribed Tylenol #3's that helped alot. I really hope your laproscope went well. I am looking forward to hearing the results. One good thing about Laproscope proceedures is that you have an answer. Not knowing was the worst for me. (just knowing your body and knowing something is wrong and needing to find out) So whatever the laproscope results reveal is a start to the end of pain. Good Luck!

I just had my laproscope done three days ago. I left the hospital feeling better than when I went in.
Before I went in, I was unable to walk or sit upright. I could not urinate or have a b.m. without having severe pain afterward. When the nurse told me I would need to go to the restroom after the procedure, I dreaded it! However, I was so surprised when I stood and did not feel the need to double over. To me, the laproscope was definitely worth it!

My lap was in Jan 2002 and my recovery was not as easy. They found stage 4 endometriosis (the worse stage) so my doctor (my infertility dr did the lap) went ahead and did a lot removal. The endo had my bowels and tubes/ovaries all twisted...he removed what he could but I was very sore afterwards from all the probing and lasering. Then I had to endure 6 months of Lupron injections because the endo was still that bad. Thankfully I got pregnant RIGHT after my last shot so I was very pleased. Hubby and I had tried for 17 months but because my tubes and ovaries were out of alignment it was impossible.

I just had surgery on the 15th of July. I finally started feeling back to my old self and I started my period, it's AWEFUL! Has anyone else experienced a bad menstral cycle after surgery? I have read things saying this is normal and things where ppl practically pop up after the surgery and never have a problem. I'd love to hear from any of you. THANKS!

My Dr. told me that is common to have painfull period after the surgery, even that i could had pain in my 2nd period, because the area will be sensitive. Hope your next period is better for you! hi, I'm new to this message board, my name is Karin and I live in the UK (but I am Dutch) I am 51 years old. I was diagnosed with endo on the 4th of March of this year. I had a laparoscopy, and the Mirena coil was placed there and then (hurray) the verdict was Mild to Moderate. nothing has been taken away, an existing cyst had burst between my last consult and the laparoscopy. the procedure was quick and I am glad I had it done, because of the certainty of the diagnosis, so I could "work" with something, instead of guessing. my navel looks a bit different because of the incision and subsequent scar, and after seven months the scar above my right ovary is ugly and red, but tiny! I am not happy with the hormone Prostep3 injections, but that is another story! (the Mirena didn't do its promised job) Karin.

I had my surgery on 22 Jul and diagnosed with stage 3 of endo, the first month was the best I had felt in years. Now, into my 3rd cycle after surgery, the pain is as bad as before the procedure and consistent all month long. I was not put on birth control because my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years now. My doctor wanted to give me 6 months after the surgery to get pregnant, if nothing, IVF. I am getting very discouraged feeling the same pain now only 3 months after. I was wondering what other people have felt, long term, after surgery and the results of getting pregnant.

Its the results (as I want to have children) thats making think should I do it?...do I really want to know? I have chronic pelvic pain going down my legs..my periods are regular but kill and I have a lot of brown spotting. My whole body just did a 360 turn within one year..before I had pain during my periods but noting else. I just need to know, how do you perpare MENTALLY for the laparoscopy?

Tas, I have a question for you...how were you diagnosed with a 2cm endro on your right ovary. Was it detected via ultrasound? I did an ultrasound and nothing showed. I am soo confused Don't worry, I am in the same position as you in a sense. I am 29 yrs old and want to have a child asap and we have been trying too. I've done some reading as I too want to know how long it takes to get pregnant after the laparoscopy. From what I read..many got pregnant after 7 months to a year. I also know one girl who did the laparoscopy after a year of trying. Found out that one of her tubes was damaged beyond repair and the other, they removed some tissue. Basically, she had one tube to work with. She got pregnant a year later. 4 ys later had another child,.....2 yrs after that, had another. She's got 3 children with only one tube functioning. So try not to focus on the timing. Its easier said then done as I do the exact same thing. I hope that sheds some light for you

Hi nina thanx for replying back. I actually discovered the endo by having intercourse with my husband and i was getting pain on my right side so i went and got an ultrasound done and they could see the endo only one its really small. I'm doing to get a lap done in 2 weeks and so far i havent been getting pain as much, i wonder why. So i just have to wait and see. A lady i work with she said that a freind of hers had the same problem like mine and she fell pregnant in one month after having a lap done is this possible. I just dont know wat to believe, im getting different stories or people just want to make me feel better. Thanx.
