Hello all! New here. Hoping someone has advice...
I had lapro surgery 3 months ago. Endo was diagnosed, stage 2. They couldnt remove much of it as it was deep in my bowel and rectum. They said it was too risky. Ive been seeing pain management and currently on percocet 5mg 6x a day. It helps but Im still in so much pain and they want to ween me off ASAP. Im also on Horizant which is a new time release form of neurontin (nerve blocker). Prior to surgery I tried strong motrin, naproxen, and tramadol with little or no help. Ive been so desperate I agreed to do depot lupron monthly injections. I just finished the first month which was HELL. Blinding, pass out, pull your hair out pain. I know thats the way it goes the first month. Its getting less but its still bad.
My concern i went to my PCP for a different issue and she want there. Instead saw a PA for first time & shes a rep for Horizant & has endo herself. She told me Horizant doesnt help endo. She thought it was ridiculous Im on so much percocet and gave me a lecture. (years ago I was on 90mg a day of oxycodone for back problems alone so I dont really agree. I think drs now a days are afraid of writing opiates even when its medically justified). I asked what she recommends instead & all she could say is some patch that she forgot the name of. Uggh
So in the near future I need something that helps since pain managements not going to keep me on percocet. I have no problem with that as long as theres something that works! Does anyone have any suggestions? And has anyone else ran into being treated differently by drs because youre on opiates? or them being more focused on getting you off them than helping you find an alternative?
Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks xoxo
