Hi
I am new to this site, but have posted on others so apologies if you have seen this before. I am 46 and was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2010 during an abdominal operation. I tried to avoid medication but symptoms got bad so decided to go on hormones. First was Cerazette which didn't agree with me, then Micronor which after a long time managed to get on top of the pain but I was continually spotting. I was getting a lot of pressure to try the Mirena coil so eventually decided to give that a go, it gave me a huge amount of pain and in June 2014 after 4 months it fell out and I bled so much I needed a transfusion. Then I was put on Norethisterone 5mg which stopped the bleeding and after a while the pain but I had awful side effects. They kept me on the Norethisterone for 9 months during which I had a failed ablation. It was then decided that I should come off the Norethisterone 5mg and changed to the mini pill so I was weaned off during April and since then have only been on Noriday. The pain has been horrendous, constant cramping and heavy clotty periods (no flooding though), my digestion has been affected too.
I am aware that my body seems to take a long time to adjust to changes but I am worried about the long term affects of a high dose of Norethisterone, there are days when I think I will never adjust!
