who is this Surgeon that does Lupron, and can't do a DaVanici surgery? I'm concerned he isn't up to date on treatments. As for recovery for a laparotomy... Its a FULL six week to eight week recovery, no lifting anything greater than ten pounds, no driving until you are able to go without narcotics, no driving because of the stiches/inicison, no bathing, shower only, no stairs! And it will take 2-3 months before your energy level is back as its very hard on the body. I have had Two Laparotomies and three Davinci surgeries. If he doesn't think he can do it robobtic you should talk to another doctor first. Please consider talking to another doctor before doing this drastic of a surgery. I didn't listen when I was told to get a second opinion and did a second Laparatomy with the doctor who screwed up my first laprascope that then turned into a laparatomy. Finaly went a better doctor and she did Davinici Robotic. In and out overnight, and back on my feet in two weeks! And I have severe bowel involvement, bladder adhesions, hernia repair from the previous doctors stupid laparotomy scar, (long surgery... 5 hrs, first time 5.5 second time) but recovery was awesome. I just didn't have that energy flag that I had with the big open surgery. Lot less blood loss means better recovery!

omaklackey I actually had the Davinci done 2 years ago while I was living in Phoenix but I guess the dr then only lasered off the endo and drained the cysts instead of excising everything so now everything is back worse than before. I'm seeing Dr. Mangal now in Houston who is one of the top endo specialists in the country so I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing! He is going to be doing excision on all the endo, ungluing all my organs from the adhesions, removing my appendix bc it was covered in endo, opening one of my tubes up and there will also be a colorectal surgeon and urologist in case I need a bowel resection or anything done to my bladder since it was invading those places so bad too. He is also a fertility specialist and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a few years so he will know what to look for and do to increase our chances afterward (the dr that did my first surgery was just a gyn oncologist so didn't even check my tubes or anything while he was in there) He does quite a few surgeries each week and I've heard nothing but great things about him. He is very thorough in everything and loves what he does so I'd much rather have to go through this and get everything out the right way than do the Davinci surgery like the first time and have everything come back in a few months! Thanks for letting me know about the recovery time and everything, I figured it would be pretty lengthy but I'm just glad I have the disability through my work to cover my time off and will be able to take the time I need to rest and recover!

Hi, I am currently seeing Dr Mangal and scheduled for a laparotomy in the future. Anyone here had any success after this procedure with Dr Mangal and were you able to conceive shortly after ?
