Hiya, just wondering what everyone has taken, what has and hasn't worked for you, and what side effects if any? Couldn't find a specific thread To be honest I'm at the end of my tether on the NSAID I take at the mo, and I'm looking for ideas of what else I can look into. My abdominal pain is under investigation as there's a theory that its not all endo, may be IBS or a UTI etc To be honest it's mostly curiosity cos I'm kinda nosey and like people's stories! Tell all

Well I've no idea how to tell you what this is called in the UK, but I take something for cramps called Percogesic or Genasec. It has acetamenophin in it and also a muscle relaxer. The muscle relaxer is what really helsp me. I take it on top of naproxen sodium and it keeps me from going insane. I can only take it when I'm home though because it makes me sleepy.

Hi erzulie I took naproxen in New York as I was in agony the first night, it saved me a ton of misery! I hold it in eternal fondness, I think of it when I see the city library... So far I'm doing ok with eccoxolac (active ingredient etodolac), an NSAID that doesn't act on your stomach, which is good cos I had trouble with ibuprofen hurting my tummy. The uglies have been: *meptid (meptazinol hydrochloride) fetching neon orange!, *arcoxia (etoricoxib), *arthrotec, which came straight back out within minutes and left me in agony, *and tramadol hydrochloride. They have all had pretty grim side effects on me including shaking, nausea and vomiting, dizziness and fainting, confusion and drowsiness. I have since realised I can't take opioid painkillers, especially as they don't help, and the side effects do make it all so much worse. My little home comforts are my hot water bottle, and a pillow between my legs helps when its at its worst, and a little TeNS machine. I am taking mebeverine (an antispasmodic, relaxes my bowel) for suspected IBS but things are worse still at the moment. One thing I can say is at least fill up on a good snack or milk before taking ibuprofen or other NSAIDS, it helps loads! BTW if anyone is looking for a good site for info on medications (just type the name in the search box and click drug search) www.drugs.com/

Ah Bryant Park, and that little tiny tourist shop where they couldn't understand my accent. It was there that I found the painkillers you see

I am taking Ultram every day. I also am taking Tylenol #3. Um......4 motrin 3 times a day. I'm kinda new to all this and little overwhelmed. My pain is getting worse every month and lasting longer every month. I have my lap scheduled at the beginning of Feb.

I was told to take 4 motrin every 4 to 6 hours a day. Also make sure to take it starting 3 days before your period......4 motrin every 4 to 6 hours. It helps.

Here is my list of what I have tried over the years when I thought this was PMS and just part of being a woman: Vicoden, Naproxin, Prozac, Lexapro I have been on every BC pill or patch that has been made in the last 20 yrs, Motrin, Advil, Ultram, Xanax, Tylenol 3 with codene, Skelexin.
What has been working- Darvocet every 4 hrs and Advil PM when it gets bad I add an Ultram. My medicine cabinet looks like that of a 80yr old woman and I am 36....it is truely sad.
I also have to take a laxative daily because the Darvocet backs me up and then the Dr's claim I have IBS!!!! Other than that I am a very healthy person who used to jog 3 miles a day and life weights...now I can barely walk 30 mins!!!

Wow Trish, you really have tried a lot eh!? A lot of those medications are ones I've never heard of - I'm assuming they must be perscription?
I'm still taking the Naproxen.. but with 8 extra strenght tylenol per day with it. I'm starting to notice the stomach upset too.. especially in the mornings before breakfast. Still not much by way of relieving anything else though...

This has been over atleast 7 yrs when this started. A few are anti-depressants the Dr's just thought I was depressed and that would make the pain go away. The pain has just been consistant for about 3 months now. They kept thinking I had IBS and told me fiber, fiber, fiber...that landed me in the ER with constipation and gas. So then they thought it must me IBS, I finally had it told my GP what I thought it was and then he finally agreed.
The meds do take a toll on your body that is for sure. I try to take them only when I need them.

I know what its like to have the anti depressants thrown in there too! I've been on them for about 4 years now. That all started when they shut my system down with Depo and put me through menopause (I was 24 at the time) and I totally lost it! I haven't been able to function without them since! They told me I have IBS too. The thing that makes me mad is that IBS is connected to Endo... we all know that! Why don't the doctors make that connection as well?? For some reason the doctors don't want to believe this exisits or something!
I agree with you too about the meds taking a toll... I think about that every day. Is it better to live a better quality life now that worry about the future?? I haven't decided yet.

That is a hard one to decide. The older I get the more I think about the future. Through all my scans and tests they found a spot on my liver and lung. That started getting me to think about the future. I have to wonder how these meds are effecting my organs...never gave it much thought before.
But I have to function and for now I have to use meds to function. I debate and question my Dr's more than I used to.

The worst thing bout me staring this thread is I can't remember what I've taken in what order and what they did to me so i couldn't use them. I'd say just about every one that i can't use made me sick as a pig though. May be evident of how strong the chemicals in them are though! xx
