So I had my lap yesterday and the dr found endo (i freaking knew it!! ugh) I didn't get a chance to talk to him or find out everything he found and I am waiting for him to call. I'm stressed and sad but happy to have a diagnosis!! My main worry is that it didn't work. I know I am going to be sore now for a while and I won't know what's normal for a bit and its just all so depressing to think about. I know ill feel better when he calls but I'm just down and sad so here I am venting I keep thinking about if my pain doesn't go away, how am I going to tell my bf? He cares about me so much and just wants me better, but, what if I don't, or can't, will it put a bigger strain on our relationship? (theres not one now were doing great) but I just worry he won't want to put with it one day and just get tired of me being sick all the time. vice versa id want to be there and take care of him because i love him but i am really scared he'll leave me, and then what does that mean for future relationships? Gah everything right now is just so freaking scary

Yay for a diagnosis! I think it's common to wonder what life will be like now, and it'll take your body a little while to figure out what the new 'normal' will be. But, regardless, keep in mind this: surgery is just one facet of treatment. I really hope it gives you relief, but if not, it's not the end of the line - there are so many other treatment options to consider and so many things you can do to take control of your symptoms.
Let yourself feel it all and process everything! You've been through a lot to get to this point and there are still a lot of questions, but you have one big one answered - you know what's going on inside.
Rest up!

Try not to stress, recovery takes time and it is hard to really know until a few cycles go by. Surgery & recovery can also make you a big mess of emotions, so take everything with a grain of salt. As far as your bf, there are a lot of us with supportive and understanding mates who just want us to feel better- sometimes we don't give them enough credit when we fret about the future.. trust in the relationship you have now, it sounds like a good one.

Your recovery time depends on many things.... how extensive your endo was and also what other procedures occured during your surgery, if any. Regardless, it takes way more than a day to heal from the surgery. My 1st 2 laps were fairly minor and it took about 2-3 weeks. Last lap was with an excision specialist and he was aggressive in removing all of the endo and so my recovery time was much longer. Its important to rest and follow lifting restrictions during this time. Cut yourself a break and take a time out from the worrying if you can. Trust me, you will heal. Knowledge is power and for me that really helps take the edge off of anxiety. There are tons of resources on here. My biggest step forward in fighting this disease was finding the right doc..... one that specialized in endo.
Feel better

Yeah, it's just hard to be patient when i just want it to work lol. My pain feels worse now but again i have to tell myself to wait a few months before i start freaking out lol
thanks everyone. ive been learning to take it one day at a time and trying to find things to distract myself from the pain
and working in the endo diet. i have a hard time giving up my go-to junk food when im not feeling well. but im drinking almond milk instead of regular, gluten-free wheat free cereal that is pretty good, decaf coffee and dairy free creamer, cutting out soda slowly but surely, more fruits and veggies and endo approved meals when i can with quinoa. i want to start baking the gluten free breads with different flours and see what works best and what i like.
its a big change and my taste buds are trying to get used to this new way of eating lol

If your pain is worse now than before your lap, and it's been over a month since your lap, I'd consider a call to a doctor. There's some pain that we just have to wait out and see, but if it's worse, it's definitely worth investigating. You may be told to wait a few more months for the pill to kick in or for you to heal, but it may be worth asking the questions of how long you should wait, and if you wait that long and things still aren't better, what are the next steps. It's tough being in pain but having no plan to deal with it makes it even worse. If you're not 100% on the diet yet, you may not feel any changes. I read that even having gluten every 10-15 days is enough to cause problems internally. Give yourself a deadline to gradually cut out all the crap, and be sure you have a replacement for everything you're giving up!

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's only been a little less than two weeks since your lap, so I don't want you to throw in the towel yet! Did you have a post op scheduled with your doctor? Many do 2-4 wks so I was hoping you might have a chance to talk to him or her coming up soon. I forgot, are you on BC pill right now?

Well glad the nuvaring helped the acne at least! That's a good thing.
Try not to get worried yet. At 12 days past, you haven't even healed yet. Many doctors will tell you that you are fine after 3 days, but that's just not the case, particularly if you had lots of stuff cut out.
That being said, surgery often isn't a fix. It's necessary, but endo is very complicated, and not many surgeons are skilled at getting ALL of it cut out. But give yourself more than 12 days to recover! Just cause you don't have big cuts on the outside doesn't mean that there was lots of work inside!

Don't get too worried yet!!
It took me over a month to start really feeling better after my second excision lap. I had lots of weird pains that I hadn't even had before while i was healing. Like, I remember washing dishes two weeks after my lap, and I suddenly got these intense uterine cramps (not on my period) and got dizzy and thought i would faint. I feel GREAT now though. Like, not perfect, but I don't have pain that stops me from leaving the house anymore.
I knew my first lap hadn't worked because i had an endometrioma, and the sharp stabbing pain of that came back a week later and I was immediately bed ridden again. That doctor did not do excision though, just drain and burn.

Thanks everyone, I think I'm feeling better. Slowly but surely some of my symptoms have gotten better. The nausea got worse after the surgery and I lost 3 lbs in a week bc I cant keep anything down. It's not as bad or as often as it was but I have less aches and pains. Although I get terrible cold sweats and hot flashes, I feel like my inner thermostat is broken.lol The pain i have now isn't as often and slowwwllly subsiding. Oh! and i got this great great new job that starts in august! thanks you guys for the support!!
