Oh that would make me so nervous if I had to be pumped up with that contrast and knew i was allergic to it!
I can't believe it's actually termed Prednisone rage. That's too funny. Well, I suppose not, but...
I am feeling okay - a little run down still - and not because I'm doing too much. I wake up feeling this way, and keep waking with headaches, too. Still maintaining that my left side pain is totally resolved and I'm relieved for that, but my highest incision closest to my ribs started bothering me - deep. Hoping it's just part of the healing process and not an infection, or worse...adhesions already starting in.

Yeah, I went a little crazy on cortisol, too. I've read it is a common reaction. A theory as to why is that it can suppress your body's cortisol production, and if the dose you're on is too low to make up for what your body is used to getting, adrenaline kicks in to try to make up the difference. I was shaking, crying, totally anxious, and wanted to crawl out of my skin on a medium dose. It's not a fun feeling! I'm glad you didn't get those side effects! That's pretty intense. Doesn't sound too fun. Do you know that you are doing it, or is it something that as it's happening you don't realize that's it's irrational until after?

Any chance you're just starting to wean off painkillers? I got THE worst headaches for about a week or two after going off them.
As for the side effects, I noticed it a bit but wasn't quite sure what was going on. It got gradually worse after about a week or two to the point that I thought I was going insane and felt like I was having a panic attack one day. I've NEVER felt like that before. Poor Jenaya - I think I scared her when I was at the worst of it! Went off it and within a few days, it gradually wore off. Not fun! I went on a much lower dose after that in the hopes that it wouldn't suppress my own body's cortisol production and I tolerated it much better, but it didn't do anything to help my sypmtoms (adrenal fatigue). Can't win, right? So, for now, I've sworn it off.

Uh yeah that was pretty damn awful. I hate medications. You never know how your body is going to react and usually I'm one that can NEVER tolerate anything. UGH!

prednisone is awful, but when an allergic reaction is out of control it's lifesaving. I actually put prednisone in the same category as antibiotics as lifesaving drugs. But both have side effects, and prednisone is really hard to tolerate.
Hope today is going better for you, Rhodygirl!

It wasn't painkillers, I stopped taking them about 4 days after, maybe 5? Took them consistently for 3 days or so for sure and the just a few more. BUT...here's a major development. I have LYME disease (and mycoplasma)!! And, I tested positive for one of the lyme bands that usually doesn't show up until a year or more after infection and it's likely been longer. GREAT! GREAT. I need to see a lyme literate doctor now, most of which don't accept insurance, and the government sucks when it comes to lyme. Ironically, I had recently watched "Under our Skin" -- and had a bit of sucky insight as to what this illness is like for the patients dealing with, had even posted on my facebook how disgusted I was...now I'm one of them. GREAT! www.hulu.com/watch/268761/under-our-skinAnd, my son has another issue...immune deficieny. His IgG serum levels are low, which explains his constant infections and never getting better despite antibiotics. FML!!
