honeybush tea: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclopia_%28genus%29still has tannins, although low. I hope you like the Dandyblend! it's different from the other types of chicory coffee - it's less bitter, more smooth tasting. I discovered it when I had a friend serve it to me and was surprised that I liked it. I did a search and didn't realize that most herbs contains tannins. I read that lemongrass does not, but I'm not sure it's totally true. You might want to look into that. But it would have to be pure and not mixed with other things.

Quite frankly there is no substitute, but I've really got to like peppermint tea, and chamomile. Twinings do a chamomile, honey and vanilla tea that's very nice

I definitely agree there is no substitue taste wise. I'm more looking for something that is warm and tasty for mornings that I can drink. I did try camomile tea but in the morning that might be a problem. Its best for sleepy times. I did try a "steamer" at a local coffee place. It was okay. I don't pay 4$ for coffee though so it was a pretty much one time thing! LOL

I drink the plain dandelion root tea. It has a good flavor to me but tastes quite different from the roasted prepared dandelion tea bags I've bought in the past. Those taste a lot like coffee. Oh - but it makes you pee a lot. You'll want to drink more water. Rooibus tea helped me kick my coffee addiction but I'm not sure about tannins either. I've heard it's high in antioxidants, though. I drink chamomile tea in my mix of morning teas, too. It feels relaxing but doesn't make me sleepy. Another thing I've done is drink a cup of hot water with a bit of lemon juice in it but I was just thinking that if the juice is too much, you could try a bit of orange zest or even dried orange peel.

No tea, can't have any tea because of the tannins. The only tea I can have is peppermint, which I can't have. I'll look into the other things that were suggested. Can I ask what the problem with tannins is? Does it affect your IC?
