Hey girls! I came across a really awesome exercise that gets rid of those saddle bags on the sides of thighs! Check out the attached picture to see what I mean (and NO, that's not me, LOL).
Anyways, I've always had these saddle bag cellulite things no matter how thin or in shape I am and I've never been able to get rid of them but I have been doing this new exercise for a week now and FINALLY, FINALLY!!!! they are starting to smooth out! I'm so excited and I want to share!
It's called a lateral squat walk and you can do this on a treadmill or outside in the grass/sidewalk/track etc. I do it on a treadmill because of the air conditioning. But what you do is put it on a super low speed like 0.5-0.8 depending on how long your legs are. Then you turn sideways, get into a squat position and then walk sideways while side stepping. You stay in the squat position! Never straighten your legs. Keep stepping sideways and when your lead leg gets tired, turn around and do it facing the other direction. I have been doing 2 minutes on each side switching back and forth for a total of 20 minutes. It's A LOT harder than it sounds. After 2 minutes my heart rate was at 180. If I can find pictures of how to do this then I'll post it to help.
If you are a beginner then hold on to the hand rails until you get comfortable with the balance then once you are comfortable, put your hands on your hips. It's important to maintain a straight back, don't lean forward, and keep as much weight on the heels of your feel as long as you can maintain the balance. Also, don't lead with your hip, always keep your torso straight up and down. If you feel yourself leaning to the side then you are doing it wrong. It buuurrnnnssss but it totally works!
I think the reason why this works so well is because not only is it targeting the saddle bag area but it's an amazing cardio workout so it's burning fat too. I was dead tired after only 20 minutes. It's awesome!
