For both really.
I have done it on and off over the years, i must admit i get lazy, and once out of the routine its hard to get back into it.
I originally took it up for exercise, but when i got really sick it was really the only exercise i could do. At first i thought it was making the pain worse so i stopped doing it, but i did some reading and realised i was probs just doing the wrong poses. So i tried again and paid more attention, when something hurt i didnt do it again and eventually i learnt the poses that relieve the pain.
At the moment i struggle to do more than 10mins, i dont go to classes and i cant really consider it an option at the moment, but even just one pose for 5mins can be helpful.
The poses recommended during pregnancy are really good, i avoid most twists unless its a good day. Forward bends are good. I cannot do bridge pose at all, thats a no no for me. Its really beneficial, can relieve pain greatly at the end of a day, but just gotta listen to ur body, it will guide u.
I dont know if classes would be of benefit when unwell, unless u can find a teacher able to guide u while sick.

Hi all,
I'll tell you a GREAT tea receipe that REALLY helps my period pain and blood flow. If you try it...let me know! My mom is from Spain and my dad is Cuban, so some of this stuff one can get at the grocery store, but for the STRONG stuff...I like to go to a Spanish Market!
Now, for this to work you got to boil it and drink it hot. Of course, don;t burn your mouth, but I find it works better hot. I would not microwave this! Oh, and sometimes one can find teabags, but it's NEVER worked the same for me as when using the REAL leaves and such... Ah, going to make some now!!! ;D
3 or 4 tablespoons of Chamomile 1 BIG Cinnomon stick 2 Anis stars 2 tablespoons of tilla flowers a bit of ginger a bit of lemon grass A bit of honey to taste (only if you like...)
Hope this helps someone!!! ;D

I will try this, i found just having camomile with lemon gigner and honey really helped me feel better overall, plus I love a good hot tea with all the bits flaoting in it! Would like to push the TeNS as non-drug pain relief also! I have the Ova, the cheapest and it is brilliant for me, really takes the edge off if it doesn't relieve the pain altogether xx

Hi Cherry hon...
Oh nooooo...I don't like anything floating in my tea. I use a strainer! The only thing I like, which may float in there because I do transfer it over to the cup...is the cinnamon stick... ;D
Let me know when you tried it. I just had some last night and it helped me fall asleep. Lord, do I have trouble sleeping! However, this stuff helps for that too.

Hi denna!
That's one of the items I go to the Spanish store for. It actually looks like a bunch of leaves and rosy buds.
You don't HAVE to use it, but I like it cause it's great for RELAXING! That's what it's for!! AH!!!!

Just found this thread. My husband is Cuban/Spanish, too, so his mom gets me tilo and manzanilla. Tilo is linden-leaf tea, and manzanilla is chamomile. I've found both to be helpful, and I can't wait to try your recipe--it sounds delicious! Sometimes I'll do a simple cinnamon infusion, too, which might work if you don't like combining lots of flavors. Someone in the thread mentioned cherry juice, too. My husband found a place that sells pure red cherry juice. IT'S AMAZING. It works as well as 400mg ibuprofen (2 Advil). It's great cold, and if you heat it up with a dash of cinnamon and a drop or almond extract, it tastes like cherry pie. The downside is that it's kind of pricey, but if you compare the price to prescription pain killers, it's a really good deal. Theoretically, any 100% cherry juice should be beneficial, but the makers of this particular product claim theirs is more effective than regular juices. I haven't been able to compare personally because I haven't found any other 100% cherry juices, but this kind definitely works. Here's the website: www.cherrypharm.com/

i have a tens and it works pretty well. it's true, it doesn't completely take the pain away, but i am not sure anything will. i do now swear by this stuff called, "blue goo". i buy it at wal-mart. it is near the ben-gay and stuff. it is awesome, i tell ya. it is only like five bucks. it is a topical analgesic (sp?). it's got all kinds of natural products in it, even calendula. i lather it on pretty much every day at work. my doc won't give me any more pain meds. so i was willing to try anything. maybe you will too.

The cherry juice takes about as long as ibuprofen.
