I'm so sorry, applewood! While I have not tried Visanne, I just came off of trying the Mirena IUD and only lasted 1 month on it. While it's a different treatment, I think that the same "hang in there and see what happens" attitude is present with it. Some people do great on these things, some just can't tolerate them. You are strong for trying something! You haven't been given any pain management!? I understand that doctors are tightening up on prescribing pain meds, but if you are obviously in pain they should at least give you options. Can you request a referral to a pain management center?

This is so frustrating, I am at the end of my mental health with this disease and the apparent lack of compassion or interest on the part of the several doctors I've seen to treat it. I really do not know what I am expected to do, living like this is intolerable, all I can see is two more decades exactly like the last one: no help, no improvement in pain, constantly pleading with doctors to do something that works only to be given more hormones that don't. I can't believe I'm the only person in this sort of situation. I can't believe my doctors are so much worse than everyone else's. I can't believe I am the only endo sufferer to not respond as desired/expected to the accepted treatments. I'm sorry you didn't have any luck with Visanne and don't feel like you have any support. Unfortunately, most doctors are ill-equipped to effectively deal with endo. Their options are most often surgery or hormones. Please know, though, that there are other options. With regular pain, you may be able to get significant relief from things like pelvic physical therapy, diet changes, acupuncture, etc. You're not alone in this and there are some things that you can try without feeling like you're at your doctor's mercy. That's why we're here - because those common approaches don't work for everyone. Have a look around.

Hey, I am pretty new to these forums but after reading much of it, I was inspired to ask a few questions. I recently stopped taking visanne for one year and am wondering if anyone has any information on when I should get my period? Also, when would I be able to start trying to get pregnant? Thanks for any information that anyone may have:)

I am started Visanne as soon as it gets to me from Canada. I am in the US, but my new gynecologist practices some internationally and felt comfortable prescribing it. Actually he recommended it and said it was my best shot. For whatever reason my endo acts up on any form of combined BC. I bleed on everything unless the estrogen level in the pill is very high, and then I am in constant pain from the endo responding to the estrogen. I am getting an LSH, a fully laproscopic hysterectomy that preserves my cervix. This will hopefully make a progestin only treatment like Visanne viable for me on a long term basis.
Thank you to those who have posted their experiences, this gives me hope that I can keep my ovaries for a good long while without my endo returning.

I live in Canada and just started taking Visanne 3 days ago. My history with endometriosis includes cysts, laparoscopic surgery, and 10 months on Lupron ( AWFUL TREATMENT!!). So it hasn't been as bad as a lot of ladies on here, and I'm only 26. I take the Visanne at night and so far the only side effects I have are feeling dozey in the morning (as though you've taken NyQuil or a nighttime cold medication) , and feeling really full when I've barely eaten anything. Hopefully the side effects aren't to to bad. My specialist said they should be "really tolerable", but who really knows. It's all so frustrating! Any other women who have had symptoms while on this drug would be so helpful! It's so hard to find any reviews online!

Hi littlemiss, I've been taking visanne since april of this year. The side effects that I have been having are: more migraine headaches than usual, I feel really bloated after I eat (I now eat smaller portions throughout the day), I spot a few times during each month, which is ok because my period stopped after 1 month on visanne (hurray ) so I will put up with the spotting!!! I take it before bed also, but don't feel awful in the morning. It is so wonderful to be pain free. I am so happy that visanne is working for me. Good luck, hopefully you will find some relief. If you have anymore questions let me know. All the best!!!

Thanks so much mika! So great to hear about, what sounds like, non-hardcore side effects!! I've been on it a week now and am still expeiencing the "fogginess" in the morning and bloated feeling after eating, but hey I'll take it as long as it takes the pain away! I haven't experienced much pain at all! Hooray! Have you noticed much weight gain, acne, or hair loss?

Hi littlemiss, Glad to hear the pain is gone!!! Isn't it a great feeling??? I've had no hair loss(thank god), no acne and I probably gained a couple of pounds, (maybe) and I think my breasts got a little bigger. Overall, I really can't complain, I just wish my migraines would be less frequent. Hope you continue feeling great!!!

So I've been on Visanne for a month now, and my period is due. I get off and on light cramps, but no period. I'm not pregnant, so I can rule that out. Has this happened to anyone?

Hi everyone, I am a 24 yo who has had 2 laps and a D&C for endo, tried multiple BC pills, Mirena, acupuncture, chinese medicine....still in pain. Went to a new Dr and she suggested Visanne. I have been battling with my weight and migraines FOREVER, so I am actually terrified to start Visanne as those are two side effects. Anyone who is on Visanne, do you think it's worth it?? Thank you!

Hi there, Sounds like you've had a tough go. I also had surgeries and various medications. I've been on Visanne for a month and a half and feel completely normal! I had a few mild side effects at the beginning (grogginess, fatigue). But now I have zero pain and no period! So far so good! Hopefully it works for you too.

Hi everyone I'm Julianna from Ukraine. Also with endo, and also had surgery 2 weeks ago. now i'm supposed to take Visanne for 3 months with no breaks. Here is the same situation with not that much info about this Visanne. Our doctors send thousands of us to buy n take Visanne, but there are no girls who know what is this and what r the side effects if take these pills. I mean, in real, not from instructions. It means, there s no experience in my part of the world (ex-USSR) of using this medication... For a while i thought they just make an experiments on us, since to buy this medication i had to call some mysterious person to her cell phone, say password which is the name of my doctor and in return i had to get this Visanne "with our doctors' discount"... looks weird, isn't it? anyway... lack of information is the scariest, at least for me i'm on my 4th day now. Waiting for those horrible side effects i read here and in Visanne's instruction but so far so good... Does enybody know why Visanne is not registered\allowed to use in USA?... i read here, women from USA had to order it in Canada

Hi to all, i am 32 years old and i was recently diagnosed with endo. My doctor put me on visanne, saying that it is best to try some medicin first and then we will see if i need a lap or not. It's been 5 weeks since i started visanne, i am pain free, no major side effects, but it's been a week now that i have something like a light period. My normal period is due on monday. But what exactly is this? And will this go on?

I am from greece and having a lap to remove endo, is not very common here. The doctors usually prescribe you hormonal treatment first. But is this a solution? Or having a lap first would be best?
