Dehydration is a huge factor in how bad the hot flashes are. I deal with them on a regular basis since I'm menopausal. The best advice is drink, drink, drink. The more water you drink the less you will flash. Also for those hot flashes that sneak up on you keep a water bottle with Ice water next to the bed. I have one that's insulated so it stays cold for most of the night. A quick drink of ice cold water makes you cool down a lot faster and makes the hot flash more bearable! also if you have one of those ice packs in the freezer, I actually slept with one for the first six months until I figured out the dehydration thing!

But I will keep that in mind and drink as much as I can.

Do you mean Mirena? Mirena is a progestin-only hormonal birth control, which means it doesn't have any estrogen in it. Hot flashes are typically caused by not enough estrogen. If you're having hot flashes while on it, you should talk to your doc about it. I know estrogen gets a bad rap when it comes to endo, but it's having TOO much estrogen that causes problems. Your body still NEEDS estrogen in order to function properly. I know you're young, but I would advise you to have a better understanding of what you're on, particularly injections since there can be side effects that you should be aware of.

When I was on the Mirena I had BAD BAD BAD BAD hot flashes! I would literally soak through my shirt with sweat! You might be getting too much progesterone, which is what my problem was. I would get so hot that even someone could touch my skin and it would feel like I had a fever. It was DEFINITELY the Mirena that did it to me.

I just got the Mirena placed Friday (looking at it as something to just check off the list of things I've tried) and OMG the hot flashes. I am sweating like a pig in my work where I usually wear a jacket and scarf and have a mini heater at my desk! Now I am sitting in a sleeveless shirt and pants and soaking through my clothes, I am so hot! This is my first experience of hot flashes and glad to see I was able to find a thread on here. I feel my head racing (as is evident by the rambling I just did) and I already have anxiety issues, so I guess I will be aware and keep my gyno updated!
