Hey girls, Im getting a little confused to what u girls have over there and what we have over here. Iv had the anti mullerian hormone test (AMH) which was a blood test. I had to wait about a week and a half for the results. It test the ovary reserve. In other word it basically tests how healthy/good the ovaries are. The figure is between 1-30. Unfortunately, there aint a test that gives results for each ovary. The test result covers both of the ovaries...... So, unless the surgeon has seen ur ovary/ovaries u wouldnt know which one is bad, good etc. In my case my surgeon saw for his own eyes in my last surgery that my right ovary is basically demolished.... Hence, this is why he wanted me to get this test done; to find out how healthy/functional/fertility chances the left ovary is. You want a figure over 15. I got 7.2. Which aint good. My surgeon told me I may not have 3-5 years to have kids etc and said it will be hard to get pregnant. I still have to wait to my next surgery before i can start trying. So is this the same test u gals have over there when many of u are mentioning FSH levels etc?

Good to hear from you again! I have to admit that my knowledge of infertility methods are lacking. I did read up on the test you had and it seems like the hormone level they are testing actually comes from the egg follicle itself. As you get older, the less eggs you have, the lower the level gets. The FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) actually comes from the pituitary gland in your brain. That's your brain's signal to the egg follicle to start maturing for ovulation. It sounds like you didn't get good news and that your level is low. What did your doctor suggest? Are you going to start trying for a baby after your surgery? I wonder if your level is low because of your one ovary being bad.

Hi girls, I would love to hear more about this too. I'm going to ask my doc for this test. I'm afraid of coming off the progestin and the endo spreading again. I want to know what chances my last ovary has of producing a good egg. Thx girls
