I heard on the radio today about this natural remedy for treating seasonal allergies. If you can find a local bee farm that raises bees for honey in your area, apparently since the bees get into all of the pollen, their honey will contain some of the properties of the pollen in it. So if you take a spoon full per day it's supposed to boost your immune system. They key thing is to find LOCALLY grown honey, not the store brand that's shipped in. You need the bees that have been around the same pollen that you're allergic too.
I don't get bad allergies but I figured some of you might! I'd be willing to try this. It makes sense to me!

Yeah I was telling my ex that for years, he suffered from crippling hayfever and tried all kinds, injections at the hospital, some machine that you stick up your nose which lights up red and in my opinion only helps with the nasal issues. I am a firm believer that it will work too J, I just wish people around me with hayfever would listen!

This is the first time I have ever heard of it. I think it's a great idea. I do get allergies but not super bad. I'm still tempted to try it though ;D

I've been a big fan of local honey for years-I've used it to help with asthma. that and eating lots of raw ginger (also helps settle the tummy with all of the endo-related nausea). I've always heard that the honey needs to be raw too, which is unfortunate because it costs more. But it is YUMMY!

There is a local pharmacy around here that sells local honey for that exact same reason! I don't have seasonal allergies really but would certainly suggest it to anyone suffering! Has to at least be worth a shot and probably less expensive than shots, antihistimines, etc.!

I wonder if the local whole foods would carry this?

That would be nice! I think a local food co-op would be a good place to look too. I want to actually go to a bee farm and get some! Lol.

Since I'm fast revealing myself to be a complete hippy, thought I would contribute the fact that a lot of people believe that eating honey and other bee enzyme things will cure ANYTHING. I haven't gone that far, but I have found these people advertising these things in the more remote parts of Appalachia.
Oh, and on the local raw honey. THere are bee farms all around--even in cities! And lots of places like whole foods and the Yes! organic market (here in DC and suburbs) have local honey.

I used to be big into Royal Jelly (I felt the need to capitalise that) and was mindful to stay away from watching insect documentaries.

I don't have them bad but sometimes I wonder how much the pollen is affecting my energy levels especially since my body is trying to fight off all the allergens.

I've read that honey actually causes inflammation, so while it might help your allergies, it won't necessarily be endo-friendly in that way!
