Personally, the only times I've asked for a second opinion I've been lucky enough to get answers the second time around. But I don't think I'd give up until I felt better especially if my gut feeling is telling me it's something fixable.

I will never admit defeat, until I feel happy, healthy and well consistently. I may occasionally take a break from the researching and googling and docs visits, but I'll pick it up again at some point, with a renewed vigour. If you feel like crap, you deserve to understand why and to do the best thing possible to treat it.

Most of the times that I've gotten a second opinion, it wasn't really a second opinion but a different kind of doc all together. If I don't get anywhere with 'traditional' medicine, no sense beating a dead horse and coming up with the same dead ends. I know I scream from the rooftops about the integrative medicine field, but with good reason: I get someone who actually listens, works with me, and actually make a DIFFERENCE in how I feel.

Thanks fot the advice. Yeah when i see my dr next I am going to ask for the copy of my ultrasounds, bloodwork, etc, and a list of the meds we have tried to date as we have tried 4 now and well that includes the ibprofen..But nothing has worked. I remember them all except one. Not sure if Dr's there have the same computer access as here but i know they can also kep in my information into the hospital/medical system only employees of this place can have access to such stuff though and there all my reports are visible and stuff. But not regular Dr visits i do not think as that do not go recorded in the system. I have access to this as am an employee of this organization but am not allowed to search my own records..it is considered a breech of cinfidentiality if i do and i loose my job..Go figure searching your own medical records is a breech lol.

I was inspired by several members here who have pushed through in spite of some pretty big hurtles to get a diagnosis for some of the related health issues, not including endometriosis, that we ladies have. I’m still working on getting my diagnoses so I could sure use some help both with some ideas for getting the diagnosis and encouragement emotionally? I so often want to give up and just live with whatever it is that is wrong with me and then I start wondering… What if I’m missing something huge and life threatening? Or what if I don’t have to live like this and there is something here that could be managed if I knew what it was? So anyways, I have some questions for those who have pushed through all the doctors and specialist? And maybe for those who are like me and are still trying you might have some more questions to ask? What are ways you get the doctor to listen to you? When you get discouraged who do you go to for encouragement? How do you know when to push through and to ignore negative test after negative test? Do you do extra things to prepare for appointments with specialist? How do you keep all the test results organized? Do you bring notes and reports from other visits with you? So please add to the list, if you have questions ask them, if you have answers, even better! Q1. I don't think honestly you can make someone listen to you, other then just don't take sh*t. I was born with Epilepsy, my whole life from day 1 has been spent seeing Drs etc and Drs either care or they don't. I can only comment on those who I've come in contact with. When I was going through trying to get my diagnosis last year I kinda felt like no Dr listened. When I was sent to Washington DC at Georgetown who have some of the best Drs in the states, Drs still didn't listen! Then I decided to go to a gyno and there was a mix up with appointments so I ended up having to see a guy, I got pretty upset because of the area but I just wanted help and I'm so glad he turned out to be the best Dr I've ever had. Never, ever settle! If you wouldn't stay in a happy relationship then don't keep seeing a Dr who doesn't listen. Also know when they are just wanting your insurance money and they have clearly given up. Q2. Hmmm I have a few fam members, friends and husband but honestly? I tend to listen to inspiring music and find strength within. Q3. Last year I had: 2 Endoscopy's, Colonscopy, Hida scan,CT Scan, ultrasound of my pelvis and abdomen and bloods and stool test. All came back negative part from they found out I have Celiac disease antibodies but that was irrelevant. God it was hard, everyone would be like. "Oh that's great!" And I would be like " you don't get it, I'm still ill" I just kept rolling with the punches and believing that I knew my body better then any test. Q4. I used to bring every document and every test result I owned with me to EVERY new Dr I saw. Q5. I actually kept my results etc in a pink filing folder, sounds silly but pink is my favorite colour and it perks me up get something pretty to hide the ugliness, kinda like putting concealer over a pimple.
