So I don't know about the rest of you but I have these days where I start by getting dressed to go out and just spiral from there my pants dig in my shirt annoys me and I end up with clothes all over my room and generally feeling pissed off! I don't know what triggers this but my guess is pain. I snap at my boyfriend over stupid stuff or don't call people back when they want to see me I call it my temper tantrum day,I would love to relate this to PMS or am I just really moody? I hate when I feel like this but I generally want to rip someones head off and end up lounging in my housecoat most of the day, anyone have tips to overcome this? My doctor said its probably pain related.

I do that with clothes, but not the getting mad part. My friend, however, has issues like this, and she had a lot of success with hypnotherapy for anger management and self-esteem-boosting sessions.

I felt like this until a while ago. I think it's quite probably hormonal. You know your reaction to what is making you angry is a bit irrational, but you can't help it. I totally understand. I'm not quite sure why, but I don't have those 'rages' anymore. I do still get quite crabby when I'm tired though. It's fatigue for me, not so much pain, but add the two together and yeah, I'm not a nice person to be around. I remember once getting so so stupidly angry because some clingfilm got all messed up. Depression can also make you feel that way. Bergamot oil is a natural antidepressant, you could try that in an oil burner. It's such an uplifting scent. Lavender is calming. Try and keep a diary and track your 'mood', it may help you spot a pattern x

Hellsbells is right, Bergamot is great. And I have another awesome use for it. Turn on the shower, let it get hot and start steaming, and pour a few drops of bergamot oil into the bottom of the shower. It will steam up and smell great while you shower!! Before I was diagnosed with depression and started Prozac, I was the moodiest, angriest girl ever. I had days just like the one you described - I would start to get dressed in the morning and just get MAD and go back to bed. Now I get mad sometimes, but never uncontrollably or as irrationally as I did before. So you should maybe do some researach to see if depression might be the culprit. However, I agree that pain could definitely be the cause - constant pain is the most aggravating thing ever!

Hey Nichole, yeah, I feel you, I tend to get all flustered and pissed off at times too. i see it happening like a chain reaction, the more fussy and pissy people are around me the more it affects me. have to take a time out and consciously remind myself not to behave like that. My husband works for a guy who yells and screams all day long, then hubby comes home all pissy and gets mad about dumb stuff, then sure enough the next morning or so i'm usually pissed off too.
So looking at it like that it makes sense, and since the other two humans in the 'cycle' are male, I know it's up to me to break the chain lol.... try to just ignore stuff, stick to the positive, and spend time by myself until i can get a handle on the emotion...

Yeah, I get this. Angry for what seems like no reason, although I know mine is hormonal rather than pain as I tend to feel defeated rather than angry when it comes to pain. I can usually 'catch' myself before I throw a complete tantrum and break something nice (the last thing, although a few years ago, was a new fruit juicer!). I tend to stop and take a few deep breaths and start again - clothes still make me angry; a combination of a bloated belly and my tens machine complete with runaway wires made me cross a few days ago. I just stopped, took all my clothes and tens machine off and then re-did it all. Felt much better then.

I've had bouts of both pain-induced fits and hormonal-induced fits. They SUCK! It's like your body is being overtaken by someone/something else!!
Although I certainly think therapy has a place in coping with a chronic pain issue, I think focusing on better managing the pain/hormones can really help, both physically AND mentally! I mean, if you can find things that YOU can do (such as diet, massage, PT, etc) that not only help manage the pain AND make you feel more in control over what's happening to your body, well, it's hard NOT to get stoked about that! (Or at least more stoked than miserable!)
You're not the only one that feels that way, glad you have a place to vent!

well my doctor did test me for depression because I asked him if that was possible and he said I was fine but definitly a good idea to check that. Also I take my birth control pill for 6 months straight and I get worse around month 4..this is month 5 for me and had a couple days like that so I just decided I would take a tylenol 3 and wear yoga pants much better than going through my entire wardrobe ! taking time out is a good idea just have to realize when I'm starting to feel that way, other people who are negative dont help either I really think I am a postive person but those days I'm not myself at all. Thanks for the advice, also to stop and take a breath and start over is a good idea and a mood diary to track is right on the money because I can't find a pattern to this at all!! I am having surgery again in probably a month so I'm hoping that will help my pain and went to the doctor today to try yet another pain med keeping my fingers crossed it helps!! I do think a lot of this anger starts by feeling like I have no control, I booked a therapy session as well for 2 weeks the closest appointment I could get. I'm glad I'm not alone thank you for your advice I'll keep you posted

This morning was like this for me. And guess what makes it allllllllllllll better? When my husband looks at me and says, "What's up your butt?" I damn near threw something. Why do men think that's such an appropriate thing to say to someone who's obviously having a bad morning? I just want to punch something. I haven't slept in days and I feel like I'm going to lose it.

I hope you get some sleep soon! I know the added stress you've had recently certainly doesn't help.

The anger hits me almost as soon as my husband walks in the door. I do have bits of road rage too where I am flipping strangers off LOL what the heck! I am for the most part this low key down to earth girl with a smile on and then I can just flip. Relaxation techniques work well a nice cd of the sound of the ocean calms me with a candle that smells like the beach or even cake! Vanilla soothes me so I burn a vanilla candle almost everyday. Its our lives we have stress our bodies are fighting us on the the simplest terms up to the serious stuff too. Thank G~D for this board!

Jenaya you gotta get your sleep honey to stay strong I know its hard. I threw a alarm clock at Seth one day that was not good. I do not suggest that at all. Even if you can get in small cat naps thru the day your body needs sleep with your stress and condition these days its going to make it all worse. Try the relaxation cd~ Karen do you have another copy?

Hey maybe pop it on the car too, you drive every day so that's an ideal time to get in some relaxation seeing as you're so busy atm.
