Thanks Italialynn. I just don't want endo pain. They only ran a blood test t find out about my palettes (whatever that is). They came back fine. They sent me home with the list of the results from the blood test but I have no idea what it all means or what a normal reading would be. I am seeing my fam phys on Tuesday so she can maybe shine the light on it all. It sounds like the ran a CBC? I hope your doctor can clarify all of that because spending time in the ER for a blood clot suspicion is kinda scary!!!!

WHAT. THE. F*CK.
I knew if I got back on BC, it would screw my sh*t up, possibly forever, but they want to shove BC down your throat, for fear they'll have to deal with the DEA, if they have to prescribe effective pain relief. At least, that's how I've always been treated. I did it out of desperation, to shut the POS doctor I was seeing on campus the f*ck up, and to try the very last thing I was going to try (ring), and I still have to take strong painkillers, but it's cut down the number of days I've been minimally- or non-functional. And, now... I have to worry it's going to kill me. Awesome.
F*ck dismissive doctors, and f*ck men.

It sucks cause the ring really helped my endo a lot. I did have a lot of side effects though and now this... It's just not worth it.

I wanted to post about my very good friend. We grew up together and, although she doesn't have endo, thought it was important to share.
She has a history of PCOS, among other things, so her doctors have insisted for years that she be on BC to help manage it. She has a history of cycle-related migraines, spotting, moodiness, etc. and has switched from pill to pill to pill in order to feel better while still managing her PCOS. A few months ago, she told me she was going to go off them all together, but her doctor offered to switch her to another pill and she agreed. Within a few weeks, she had some pretty severe headaches and her husband even asked her if she thought it was related to the new pill. Fast forward to a week or two ago and she went to the ER for a severe headache. They ended up doing a spinal tap to check for something else and she had so much spinal fluid (am I explaining that right?) that they had to drain it for 20 minutes. That still didn't relieve the pressure on her head. They followed up with a few scans and found a blood clot in her brain!
Turns out, she has Factor V Leiden. She just got her test results today. She should have never been on BC and can never go back on them again. She's on blood thinners for at least 6 months. She even had a blood clot last summer in her arm after a blood draw that took forever to resolve and they didn't even test for it then. The ironic thing is that she's a nurse and is in the rotation to help manage patients on blood thinners so she already knows the ins and outs of them.
I'm super glad they caught it last week because she was supposed to have surgery today (to balance out her boobs - one was 1-1/2 sizes smaller)!!! I can only imagine what would have happened if she had been put under while having that blood clot. I know she was very upset that she had to postpone surgery, but I'd much rather have my fried with lopsided boobs than one recovering from a stroke!
My point is, girls, please understand that there are risks to ALL medications. I know the risks for BC are supposed to be low and are often never even discussed, but if you or a family member has a history of any risk factor, please discuss it and monitor it with your doctor!

Karen - I really hope your friend is starting to feel better, but thank you for posting this.
Years ago I was on a normal BC pill and had perfect periods. I then started to get flashes of light and auras in my vision which was diagnosed as ocular migraines. When I went to see my Dr she immediately took me off the normal pill, and put me on the mini pill as she informed me that migraines and the BC pill cause higher risk of blood clot. The mini pill was terrible and didn't suit me, and when I went back for the normal pill she refused to prescribe it as she said she couldn't have it on her conscience if i were to develop a blood clot.
I think this really does prove the point that if anyone has any kind of migraine ever (I also get them after eating some kinds of vegetables) they should see their GP and come off the combined pill immediately. I understand it is horrible when we have these rubbish periods, but is it better than not being here at all. I don't want to scare anyone, but life is so precious and I cant believe that there are Dr out there not doing thorough health checks on people before prescribing such powerful drugs.
Love to your friend Karen, and I really hope she starts to pick up soon xxx

I'm so glad your doctor was that smart! Thanks for sharing.
I think the worst part for my friend is that she is a nurse. When she asked her doctor/coworker for her to investigate the new headaches she was having, her doc blew her off and said she must just have daily headaches! Can you imagine having to work with the doctor that had it all wrong?
