Pretty, to be honest I think one is right and one is wrong, and sometimes people just use the wrong one. I use both and I'm never sure which one's right. Rust - flippin' 'eck! I though I was a grammar geek!!!!!!

Ok calling all math geeks! 6÷2(1+2)=? Is the answer 1 or 9?

9!
6÷2(1+2) Anything in parentheses is done first. 6÷2*3 Then go from left to right. 6÷2=3, so then 3*3=9

Ok cause apparently it's 1. I answered 9 too because I did it like you did. But if you do order of operations (parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, Addition, subtraction) it comes out to 1. 6÷2(1+2) 6÷2(3) 6÷(6) =1
I'm still really frustrated that there's two answers to this according to how you do it. I did it like you Karen and got 9 but apparently the correct answer is 1. Do you have a good argument for why 1 could be wrong according to how I did it? Cause I still think it's 9 and I have been debating about it for a long time now. LOL

In the order of operations, multiplication and division are grouped together, as is addition & subtraction. So you do multiplication & division together, from left to right. The answer is, in fact, 9!

Even if you plug it into a calculator or spreadsheet with the ( ), it comes out to 9! BTW - whoever it is, feel free to tell them that this was something I made my freshman remedial math students master...

Can men get cellulite? I don't think I have ever seen a man with cellulite before. Is it just a woman thing?
