I read the part about the brown-black blood that is the tail end of the period. That part I do understand... unfortunatley it is really hard to find anything that talks about that type of bleeding through the whole period - start to finish. I will keep looking too. Its something that I'm sure I'm not the only one that has that. Once I find something I will post here too. Thanks for all your efforts ouchy!!

Not a problem. I had soooo much info on it. I just can't remember which book it was in or where it was in that particular book! I"ll keep searching, though!

I definitely agree that a good diet can really affect how your periods are in terms of heaviness and colour. I've always been under the impression that your body uses the menstrual flow as a waste disposal as with your normal pooping and peeing, hence why you shouldn't drink alcohol when you're menstruating. It may be wrong as I've not looked up the scientific evidence but it makes so much sense! I know that with my improved diet my PMS is less angry (I'm just a big cry baby now) and my flow has been lighter and shorter. My first period that felt normal except for the pain. I am definitely an advocate of good eating!

Good thing to keep in mind cherry! I am such a sucker for junk food!! I have been eating way more healthy since I've been home... hopefully my next period thanks me a bit for that!

Yeah id agree with that Cherry.
I know my social habits have wrecked me a few times, with a few occassions where it has been a week of fairly solid drinking and bad diet i have paid severely. Its an extreme example, but after those events ive had the worst PMS i could imagine, and terrible terrible periods.

I think this is the blood clot post... I was wondering if anyone else seems to experience the most pain when those yucky clots come out. I hate to be so graphic, but mine seem to be long thin pieces of skin covered in blood. My pain seems to be the worst when these are present. It usually is only for the first day. I don't think I have heavy periods, just mostly a bunch of these horribly painful clots. Does anyone else go through this too? Does the pain seem to be worse at this time, and does anyone know why? I read somewhere that the Uterus is supposed to produce an anti-coagulant, but sometimes the period goes to fast before it is able to be released. But that still doesn't explain the skin....

Hey michelle - I do experience the same pain with the clots. Mine tend to be more like balls of skin - sometimes thin and long. I heard that the pain comes with the minor contractions of the uterus which normally happen just to help pass the blood. When the clot is being passed, if your cervix doesn't open to accomodate then it causes pain since it is almost being forced through the opening. I don't know if that is fact, but thats how it was explained to me. Don't be sorry for being so graphic - I know for me I need to know that other women are seeing the same things I am - agian its that keeping me from feeling crazy thing...

Do people without Endo experience these painful clots? Do normal women discharge that skin too, or is it a sign of Endo?
