I'm not sure which peach tea was suggested before (I can't stand peach flavoring), but I've been using Yogi's Detox Tea (http://www.yogiproducts.com/products/details/detox/) It works on improving kidney and liver function so it doesn't affect the bowels at all. their web site store locator function doesn't work, where did you purchase yours or did you order online? It says you can drink it daily for up to 30 days - is this what you are doing?

They sell them at just about any grocery store. thanks! I just found it at the vitamin shoppe. I read some reviews on amazon, people are reporting chills and feeling sick and cloudy urine - I'll give it a try, just hope I don't have any "issues" from it. I'd do anything to get rid of my 2 mth non preggo tum. All of me is thin except for this stupid gut.

Oh ok, here's the one I've been using - didn't realize there was a non peachy one! www.swansonvitamins.com/AHW012/ItemDetail?SourceCode=INTL140I love it so far! It tastes better than my other herbal teas, and for the first time in like, ten years, I had a week where I wasn't bloated! Crazy times, people. Maggie

OH duh, I posted it in the recipe thread! LOL Here it is again: I got my hands on a recipe to get rid of bloating! This is what female fitness models and body builders do 1 week before a competition.
"Losing 5lbs (or more) of bloat in a healthy way!" -By Julian Michaels
60oz of distilled or pure water Add 1 tablespoon of sugar free cranberry juice Add 1 Dandelion root tea bag Add 2 tbsp of lemon juice
Drink 60oz of this mixture every day for 7 days
I think this is a great idea do to a week before our periods when the bloating is the worst. This is also posted in the recipe thread.
NOTE: I wouldn't do this excessively because you can dehydrate yourself. Just do it when you feel like you're retaining water. Also I'm not a huge fan of things that are labeled "sugar free" because that usually means it's full of artificial sweeteners. I would recommend just finding a juice that says "no sugar added." There will be sugar in it but it will be the natural sugars from the juice.

Do you add honey or anything to yours? Are you drinking this daily? and how much, just 1 cup/bag or multiple cups per day? I have never done a detox and am a little scared....I don't want to overdo it but I really want to get rid of my bloated up belly. I figured going gluten free/wheat free would be the ticket but not so much. Is the detox tea just something that you should drink daily for like a week and then stop and not have anymore for another month? anyone that knows please fill me in!

I see that you can also buy the dandelion in capsule form if you don't like tea - anyone try the capsules? Would they work the same for bloat as drinking the tea?

What I did was drink two cups a day for three days, (one teabag, though, two was wayyyy too strong!) and it got rid of most of my bloating. When I start to puff back up, I just drink another cup. I drink it plain, since I like strong unsweetened teas. if you go look at the Amazon reviews you can find a bunch of different ways people drink it. I'm genuinely shocked at how well it worked! Maggie HI Maggie! Thanks! I bought the regular detox tea and have been drinking 2 cups, 1 bag just re used for 2nd cup. I can't say I have noticed much for the bloating but I'm doing this for 30 days. I also really like the taste of the tea and only use a touch of honey in mine. I just learned that honey isn't good so I am going to switch to agave once my honey is finished. I also bought the dandelion tea but haven't tried it yet. I read some reviews that it tastes similar to weak coffee. Thanks again!

Sooooo... I saw my digestion lady today. She reviewed the results of body composition test (BIA) that a nutritionist did for me and she (kind of) explained why I'm so frigging bloated ALL THE TIME, and likely part of the reason why I feel like crap. I'll report on that a bit more in my own thread but figured I'd share the water retainage part over here...
So, in my case, based on the BIA, I have excess extra-cellular fluid and not enough intra-cellular fluid. The way she explained it is this: my body is showing signs of toxicity (from what, we don't know yet - could be lots of things). As a result, my body is shifting fluid FROM my cells (taking nutrients with it) to dilute the extra-cellular fluid so it's not as toxic. Excessy extra-cellular fluid = bloat! Ha, FINALLY validation on paper as to why I'm fat as a pig these days and bloated as all can be. This would likely explain why I would bloat on all sorts of different medications, including BC... Next steps - she'll consult with her guru and come up with a better plan for me to combat bloating, among other things, so my body isn't as toxic and has a good fluid ratio. Hmm, I guess that makes sense that the detox tea works for me. It helps the kidneys and liver filter the bad stuff out of my body...
I guess what I'm trying to say is that bloating is NOT in our heads, and there's a biochemical reason behind it!

re Karen: from what we just went over in Fluids and electrolytes that makes sense but have they ever checked through all things related to your heart etc? The heart/liver are big ones that can cause excess intercellular fluid etc. as well as all the different electrolyte imbalances that can cause that shift. Its some complicated stuff!

She seems to think any heart issues (I've had palpitations while on the new thyroid med, though they have significantly decreased and haven't been active for nearly as long as I've been bloated) are a result of electrolyte imbalances. I suspect more liver issues/kidney issues and so far she seems to be leaning in that direction. I've been on supplements since day 1 for liver support. We'll see what the future reveals!
