I used to get horrendous anal/rectal pain within about half an hour of a bowel movement. Ibuprofen really helped in the short term. I was then on daily Amitryptilene which stopped it after a month or so. Now I only get niggles.

Usually afew days before my period is going to start I get an upset stomach and tend to get the runs more. Once it hits I seem to get constipated. This past period for me was horrible. On my worst day of pain I could barely pass urine. I finally forced myself to pee and I felt a wave inside of me, felt like I was going to puke and finally was able to go. I was like that the entire day, it was HORRIBLE. The next day I felt totally different and had no problems passing urine. This is the 1st time this has happened to me. I also have a dull ache near my bottom that usually starts on day 2, usually for me day 3 is the worst for pain and then it starts to improve. Today I should be totally done with my period but I still have this dull ache a bit, on a pain scale would say maybe a 1 out of 10. My best advice is a warm bath, seems to help. Also, I buy these hot packs at the mall, you heat them up in the microwave and the heat lasts for quite awhile, very soothing on days you have pain and way better than a hot water bottle or therma care wrap. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm having the same sort of issues again. I've been really nauseous this past week, bloated, and having the stabbing pain in my rectal area again. I'm going to try to get to an appointment with a gastroenterologist next week because I'm feeling so awful. A girl I met volunteering today at the endo association booth in Denver recommended someone so I'm hoping he can help me. I caved and took some percocet tonight and that's helped a bit. The bloating is the worst and I have no appetite. Today hasn't been a great day.

They were set up at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. It was mostly different drug companies everywhere and the endo association was way in the back with the other non profits. It was interesting to say the least, but I'm glad I got to meet some other women with endo. It's nice to have people to talk to face to face about everything were going through.

Oh my- it is so surreal reading many of my own symptoms being described by all of you ladies!
Bowel pain/pressure right before & at the beginning of my period was a symptom that began years ago- I had no clue as to why. It's still an issue & seems to last longer throughout and for a few days after my period is over.
I am sorry we're all in the same boat, but I am grateful to be able to read & talk about these things. I don't have any friends that have personally dealt with endo. This is a place where I know people truly understand.

I just recently had a full pelvic MRI and there is thickening on my rectal wall from the endo which explains the rectal issues I have from time to time. I found that taking an anti inflammatory helped me. My doctor had me on it for 3 weeks to see if it would kill the sciatica/periformus muscle tightness and then said to go off of it for afew weeks and see how I feel. I'm off of it this week and the rectal issues are coming back a little to it's got to be something with inflammation....

Hi girls! It has been a while, so I wanted to report back on what has helped the rectal/bladder/intestinal pains... I am currently still on the micronor daily, combined with the vitamin d /calcium chews, strong turmeric tea (just on days 1 & 2 of period), and I went dairy and gluten free (except daily Greek yogurt). I also take Align probiotic. Each of these has individually helped my symptoms. I still have some issues (particularly intestinal), but they seem to have improved. My Gyn told me also to make sure I am not constipated before my period comes and that helps for sure. I also went off my blood pressure med (a calcium channel blocker) and felt better off that too. I do also believe that sitting tends to worsen our symptoms and I try not to sit as much as I used to (shard with a desk job, but I try)! How is everyone else doing?
