Ah good luck with that Karen, sounds like a goood one! I went and filled out the form last night to change GP, it's the one my friend goes to and she said the main GP is really thorough. Now just have to wait and see if they take me!

Oh, and meant to add - I asked the ultrasound tech who the best ob/gyns were at their clinic. She gave me three names - one at each of their larger locations - and the doc I saw last week was one of the ones on the list. Just goes to show that good ob/gyn does NOT equal good ENDO ob/gyn!

Hi Karen. Glad that you're getting all the appointments you need, and congrats on the new job. I'm sorry to hear about the cyst on your cervix but I'm glad they found something to explain the spotting. I'm also struggling with my cholesterol levels (it makes me crazy, since the endo diet is pretty much heart-healthy) and doctors just tell me to exercise. Granted I've been pretty sedentary for the past two months so maybe it's a sign to get moving.
Please let me know how all your tests turn out. Take care.
Katrina

Grrr, cholesterol and glucose levels drive me nuts. There's no way my diets so bad that I get these type of test results. There's some crap going on inside my body. Been accepted at new GP though, so fingers crossed!

Thanks for writing about your trials with new doctors. I've been going through the same thing for the past couple years. Finally found a chiropractor/naturopathic doctor who has helped me a lot with hormone balancing and very heavy periods. I never thought I would see a chiropractor, but she does so much more than adjustments and has been very helpful and sympathetic - nutritional counselling, hormone testing and supplements. My periods are still heavy, though a little less so, and still show up at random times every now and then, but the situation has definitely improved.
I finally found a gyn that I liked and found out yesterday that she has moved away, so I'll have to start over in that department.

Ah, yes, frustrating, isn't it? I think all in all, in the last 1.5 years, I've seen 14 different medical professionals so far, ranging from general practitioners, urgent care, gyns, nurse practitioners, specialists, and alternative doctors. The one I've gotten the farthest with is my chiropractor, although he's never adjusted me! He sounds quite similar to yours, but he doesn't really get into the balancing hormones bit at all, which is what's fueling my search to find someone that will. Glad you're having results! We may not be able to get 100% better, but I'm a whole lot closer than I ever was before with traditional meds! Good luck finding a new gyn.

So here's the latest... Had my ultrasound 2 weeks ago. Last week, I emailed my doc to get the results. The nurse replied that results were normal. I replied 'hey, what about that cyst on my cervix - couldn't that cause spotting like I've been having?' Her response? The Dr. has never seen one rupture so she wouldn't remove it, she doesn't think it'd cause bleeding at all. (Hmm, every single website I can find says they can!) I didn't reply, just figured I'd find a new doctor and that would be the end of it.
Until today. The nurse calls me, says the Dr. just (?) reviewed my ultrasound, my uterine lining looked irregular (likely since it was the day before my period), I have some folicles on my ovaries that are normal, and can't come up with a reason for my spotting, so she wants to order a sonohysterogram to look for polyps inside my uterus. I have to call and schedule it between days 7-10 of my cycle. Had I known this sooner, I could have had it done last week, but now I'm past that window and with my long cycles, it'll be at least a month before I have my period again... So frustrated.
I feel like I was getting different answers between the email and the phone call and the u/s tech! To top it off, she described the sonohysterogram and it sounds painful! Injecting stuff into my uterus? Ouch!

Karen I really feel for you right now. Keep your hope alive ok, hope is healing! although dashed hopes are probly not.... But having faith in your instincts and keeping those medical professionals in line are healing, empowering, and LOTS OF FUN TOO! Just think, in 20 years endo is going to a way big deal, because what self-respecting species lets its women suffer from something that is EVOLUTIONARILY totally retarded and will eventually CEASE reproduction? HELLO? Eventually, they will be knocking at our doors, wanting all the info we can give them, and doctors will HAVE to study endo, to get their licenses. Hang in there! Just wanted to give you some feedback since you always do it for us newbies. Wish it wasnt so hard for you though, best, Pretty

Thanks for the encouragement. I was thinking... you know in Pretty Woman goes back into the fancy store after getting the makeover, and she looks at the clerk and says "you know when you wouldn't help me yesterday? Big Mistake. Big.' That'll be us some day, going back to the docs that never did anything for us!

Pretty, that's a really cool way to look at it! Today I was fantasising about being offered a research job by my gynae - total fantasy - I have no official medical background, but hey, who knows more about this than the people who suffer it, right?
Karen when's your sonohystothingy?

I'm putting it on hold. I have an appointment with another doc in a few weeks and since, the sonohysterogram is very invasive and (from what I hear) painful, and since I think it's completely unnecessary, I'm going to discuss it with the new doc. If she thinks it's necessary, I'll consider, but if not, I won't.
Oh, and it's supposed to be done on day 7-10 of my cycle, but since my cycles are so off (I think I'm on day 29 or 30 with no sign of ovulation at the moment), it'd be a while before I schedule anyway. Of course, the doc that ordered the test doesn't seem a bit concerned about my long cycles...

Why do we have to keep prodding them to think about these things? Seriously, not a lot of confidence in the medical profession these days!

Here's me sending you non-medically-approved healing Alaskan vibrations, without your doctor's approval, to spite the medical profession and create unprecedented healing in every unpredicable, unexpected way possible. Go, Karen! As we say up here, don't let the bastards grind you down! (we also say lots of other things, but we say that the most! and if it doesn't apply to doctors, I dont know what!) best, Pretty

Hey, thanks Pretty!
The day to day stuff can get kind of discouraging sometimes, but overall, to hell if I'll let it get me down or make me feel hopeless overall!
