Hmm... that's really interesting. Are you at risk of type 2 Diabetes as a result of any of these symptoms?

Very much so. Especially if diabetes runs in your family. You're also at extreme increased risk for gestational diabetes. I failed my test last time. Not testing this time since I already know I need to control my diet.
You don't have to be overweight to have insulin resistance, but weight and poor diet obviously don't help.
Do you have people in your family who are diabetic?

No, interestingly enough, I've been taking Provera to stop my morning nausea. Or rather, that is why I have stayed on it. It is the only thing I have tried that has been successful in helping with it. Estrogens make me throw up quite quickly. I was prescribed Provera to stop my periods entirely. I take it continuously. Basically, because I was having such crappy side effects with all the birth control I had been trialing we decided to try progesterone only. I started with Micronor, which did help with my nausea also, but not as much as provera. I was having crazy amounts of breakthrough bleeding with micronor, which was defeating the purpose, so I switched to Provera, because it is a higehr dose of progesterone. It has decreased my bleeding, but not stopped my periods. They have been slightly lighter then before going on anything, but I still breakthrough bleed every now and then, and I have lately been getting worse side effect symptoms.
I was actually thinking about stopping it quite soon, but I am afraid of the nausea coming back.

Humm. Then. The hormone tests would probably be invalid due to hormone usage, but I'm not sure.
Could u stop the provera and take an anti-nausea med? If you are in Canada, they make a FABULOUS nausea (and morning sickness med!) called Diclectin. It works for my extreme nausea and vomiting even when Zofran won't help! The ingredients are OTC, but in Canada, u can get the actual med!

Diclectin is my favourite!!
Its REALLY expensive though. I have used it, but only for a few days during a transition period of micronor to provera. I was so nauseous I could barely leave bed until late afternoon for two weeks straight. I still have some left somewhere, but I was needing to take it every 4 hours. I have a problem taking some of the otc anti-nauseants - they tend to make me feel a lot worse, and really weird in the head.

The diclectin ingredients are OTC! The doxlyamine succinate (spelling?) and vitamin b6! That's all that's in it. If u can't afford it, ask your doc for the composition of it and have it compounded. My OB is having make my own from OTC meds since we can't get diclectin in the states.
Also check out SeaBands. They put pressure on P6 acupressure point to relieve nausea.

Hey, for my two-penneth-worth - my hormone tests were completely skewed while I was on Provera. Bit pointless having them while you're on it as they won't tell you an awful lot :-(

That's what I figured. Bites.

I'm confused why a doc would even order the tests while on hormones???

I asked for them. My hair had stopped falling out while on it, I wanted a 'baseline' to see what certain hormones were doing while I was on it cos I felt pretty good. The only useful thing was that my testosterone was low. Retested in Dec and it was almost triple what it was while on Provera, and my hair is falling out at ridiculous levels and has been for a couple of months. It's still normal though. Anyway...soz...don't want to hijack someone else's thread :-)

Argh. Thanks Helen, that does help me. I guess I will have to take myself off of it to get them checked. Helen, how were you when you went off Provera? Any crazy side effects?
Ouchy, I have been taking B6 on its own, as I've been told it would help me, even without the doxylamine succinate. However, I ill have to look into getting that otc - I've never looked. I might be able to get a generic as a script though.

different doctor. Not his department, but he's fascinated by my nausea symptoms, and is willing to order tests to figure it out. I told him I was on Provera, but its not his department, so guess he doesn't know better?

Nope...nothing of any note. Maybe the odd minor mood swing but I had them before and during anyway!

I think it's a cool idea, Helen! It's always good to have a comparison on/off!
I have a really severe form of nausea and vomiting at the moment, some women even die from it. So, I dont' know if my experience is comparable. I notice virtually no relief with Vit B6 alone. I do, however, notice more of a relief when the doxylamine succinate isn't used on its own. Like, B6 alone doesn't help me, doxylamine succinate alone does help me, but with the B6 added to it, it helps even more. I dunno. And I still have to take it with the Zofran to keep what I have under control, though. Hopefully, it will ease up over the next few months. Praying. LOL
Good luck! Let me know what the doc says.

hmm. I am so afraid of the nausea coming back. Mood swings, and crazy depression is what I have now, plus that weird sick non feverish fever feeling. So I guess its kind of a toss up for me. a slightly function level of feeling sick, or an even less functional feeling of sick.
