OMG i was a band geek. I started by playing the trumpet in grade 5...switched to a french horn in grade 7...learned flute in grade 8. In grade 9 i was in my church band and played slide trombone, tuba plus the others mentioned above. My youngest is in grade 7 and brought a tuba home the other day. My husband just about crapped himself but i had a HUGE smile on my face. My son is very tiny and it reminded me of my elementary days

Oooh, I used to play alto and tenor sax in junior high! Taught myself the piano starting in junior high, too, and eventually took lessons for a while. Loved it. I really miss having a piano. Bought a guitar about years ago with the intention to teach myself how to play but got sidetracked until this summer. I'm now in page 5 of the beginner book.

Oh, and Jenaya, I should have known you were one to play the sex. I mean sax.

I wish I had kept up with some of my instruments that I played. I started with piano, then flute in 5th grade. Switched to trumpet in 6th and like pamelaj I switched again to French Horn (my fav) in 7th grade. I also played stand-up bass in 9th grade and guitar in 11th grade. So much fun and such great memories. I think it is something every kid who loves music should be able to do.

I was the choir geek, but my voice isn't as good now. We performed with the Moody Blues when I was 10 but that was about the highlight! Now I sing Glee tunes in shower choir. It's great, standing ovations every time.

Stand up bass is so freakin awesome! I'm considering picking up the ol' saxophone again. I miss playing.

I could/sometimes still can sing.
I have to be completely relaxed, though. Usually, this involves alcohol (in front of ppl, anyway).

That makes sense sunshine, since my boyfriend told me that my singing doesn't impress him, I haven't been able to sing very well. Not that he knows anything about singing, but it has somehow still affected me! At one time, I was really happy with my life, had loads of friends who seemed as interested in me as I was, had dumped my crappy old boyfriend and had a confirmed bachelor declaring his love for me, and whaddya know, I could sing so well and with such a huge range. Not to say it was at the most appropriate times. I left a club once and belted out, entirely Mariah Carey-esque, All I Want for Christmas, to the admiring applause of my friends and the disgust of other drunk people. In my hazy drunk happy mind, everyone wanted to hear my drunk karaoke christmas songs in March. I also get a case of karaoke after watching an episode of Glee and when I wake up in a good mood. Girls I really envy you your talents. I can't even read music, I've always learned by ear. I have ET long fingers but all the dexterity of a fish stick (gay fish!)

I can play flute, tenor sax, and piano. I no longer play the sax as I didn't own it. I was in the Regina Lions Band from age 7 to age 19. Travelled all over the world, and met my husband. Being a band geek was good to me. I still play the piano and my flute. Nice to meet other geeks.

Unfortunately being a choir geek brought me no such encounters or husbands! My bf doesn't even appreciate my 'past it's sell-by date' voice. Pffft. Guys I envy the fact that you can play instruments!
