I work for our local council, and of the calls I took today, only 3 were not complaints about the snow. I swear, 3 days of anything that isn't fuggy drizzly weather, and we've got a national disaster on our hands in the UK. Other countries stay mobile, Scotland keeps moving through annual snowfall but England in particular is a bit of a girls blouse when it comes to rain and snow. On my way home it was beautiful to watch these big snow flakes fluttering down though, it was like someone up there was having a pillow fight, too beautiful. An 84 year old lady said she'd sue me personally because our city only grits main roads and I wouldn't call the gritting team to go grit her cul de sac. Crackers!

Oh, dear, Cherry - I'd hate to field all those calls!
We're in for yet another storm. I'm supposed to travel tomorrow so we'll see how it goes. Luckily, 90% of my trip is on main roads so I'm not too worried. But still, this weather sucks...

I am in awe about the weather we are having here. I am at my in-laws who live 7 minutes from us and we are now here till 2moro. In the past 24hrs we have gotten about 3 feet of snow and another foot and a half expected for the next 24 hrs. Zero visibility, they even pulled the plows off the roads. Good thing is, I have my laptap and they have internet so i will try and catch up while i can

First off, Helen, that looks very pretty! Just a dusting on all the trees always looks so nice and inviting.
3 feet of snow in 24 hours with more to come, though, Pamela, sounds awful.
I always wonder what happens in that kind of weather if someone is having a baby/heart attack/etc. and not being able to go anywhere!

Yesterday my friend got married it was so cold out 11 degrees! We got lost on the way to the church and am so thankful we drove the SUV bc it was in the country and the roads were covered with snow. When we got to the church tho it looked like a post card. I snapped a picture. I have to say I hate cold weather but am getting used to it. It was so pretty yesterday her wedding was like a winter wonderland I kinda forgot about how cold it was.

The first one is one I robbed off the BBC site, readers pictures. It's in my park, doubtless I'll be receiving some calls about the state of the road around the park later... In Liverpool it doesn't snow very much per year owing to our position on the ocean side (no nasty continental winds carrying Siberian weather as often hits the East like Newcastle and London) so it's nice when it sticks. Until we turn into a bunch of whingers cos people refuse to drive cautiously when the roads become icy. I've become a bit bitter now that I get all of the complaint calls about our gritting procedure

And this a pic from my bedroom window... II get so excited about snow it's ridiculous. Here's my HOrrific accent too. though I like being a scouser, I don't think anyone likes their own common as muck accent when it's played back to you

I'm seriously getting very sick of the snow now. it just doesn't seem to want to stop! And to add insult to injury my boiler died last night. Fortunately it got fixed around 5.30 pm tonight so I'm warm again, but I've been off sick today and being stuck in a house with no heating was no fun! Lost count of how many times I've filled the hot water bottle!!!

Oh that pic from my back garden was nothing to how it looks now. And the calls I've had in work... I could strangle someone. What is it about bad weather that makes people so snarky and disrepsectful?!

See, now that kind of snow looks all nice and calm and peaceful! At the moment, we have about a foot everywhere and it's all iced over and crusty and dirty now. Ugh. Oh, and it's freaking cold. It's been hovering around 0 degrees F. For those of you on the C scale, freezing for us is at 32 degrees F, so we've been well below freezing for a while now...

That is cold, we have been sitting at -20 - -25 for the week, and I just herd the radio say we are ready for three more days of this cold. I am also tired of all the snow that has fallen this week, I have shoveled two times a day for four days, and today isn't looking any different, also the streets are like skating rinks as the city scrapes them down to nothing but ice, at least the side streets have snow, so not as bad.
