So I reeeallly want to start a new thread for this but I think I can make this work! Is there any way that I could still have a bit of a "cycle" and hormonal shifts. I swear I need to keep a record of my sour moods and I may still be getting some kind of swing in hormones. I don't know how this could even be possible? I have no ovaries to start and stop my "cycle"?? Does anyone have some thoughts. I"m going to start "charting" this and see if it correlates.

I think my random bouts of anger are cyclic in a way, but they may be related to bouts of high blood pressure. I can only take one health issue at a time and I'm getting so much stomach pain to go with my heart palpitations. OUCH! I guess I may have to make another appointment with my GI doctor in wenatchee. I don't know if we can afford it with my hubby's interview/visit with my family next month. I wish they would do phone call visits so I could only go down there for testing.

So one year after my colonoscopy that my first GI screwed up I went back today for a sigmoidoscopy to get the biopsies I need. Between Heart issues (bp today was 120/80 but after 147/110, and heart rate was 120 when i walked in but after was only 80 weirdest thing...not the high blood pressure after, that made sense but that my heart rate dropped?) and bowel issues and stomach issues I'm heartily sick of doctors and doctor offices and ready to call it quits. My new GI doc was really nice though and called me back both time so promptly. He also listened when I requested a new belly med. today. I didn't have to tell him the one I had in mind. I said I had tried three 'oprazole class drugs and can I please try another class of drugs and he recommend the one I wanted. I'm hoping that helps with the belly bloat. If not I will have to get back in with him for another endoscopy and more bloody tests. so sick of it... He asked about my heart doctor too and we got into an interesting discussion. He just kept asking about why I didn't' seem happy with my cardiologist and I explained that I wasn't unhappy and I wasn't going to pursue it but I don't think the cardiologist may have dismissed things that he saw, and I said it just seemed like he had an idea before I got there and I don't like it when doctors do that. I pointed out the reason I was there today was because my first GI doc screwed up because he was so sure I was constipated and sent me home with MOM and metumucil which made things so much worse. Taking a laxative with already overactive bowels is the worst pain as evidenced by the lack of sleep last night... stupid bowels weren't supposed to empty until this morning. It was a funny conversation to have and he just kept bringing it up. I wonder if they are friends? Anyways, he does seem to care about my symptoms I just have to keep practicing patience.

When do you get the results?

I get the results by Monday I think, hopefully. I don't have my hopes up. I asked the doctor to be sure and check for endometriosis and if it comes back negative I'm going to make sure he did request that. I'm really sick of being ignored. I told them that Labs don't always recognize it and the lab at central missed once before and had to go back to check it. I'm sure he just thought I was a ranting patient but I was very polite. Said please and thank you etc. Even thanked the ladies on my way out of the procedure room. I was hoping that would help let them know I was not some harridan but I was serious about my health. He did bring up a possible cause of the bloating as being an overload of bile since I'm post gall bladder surgery. He is going to wait for the biopsy and then we will talk about a bile reducing drug. I don't feel comfortable going on it without some testing to verify that its actually the problem. I have to research what kind of test that would be in the meantime.

I think I'm getting ready to lose it! Yup, my positive side is positive I"m going to lose it. My family is having some issues and I just can't deal with it. On top of that I can't handle myself right now. I have worked out, changed my eating habits, I'm walking, I'm lifting weights when I can, and I can't drop a single pound. I have muscles again but because of the bloating I feel fat, I look fat and I hate it. Two doctors telling me "its because of your weight" and I have been doing everything since sept. of last year to lose weight. I'm on a lovely swing of self loathing right now. Its spring! I want to be on a lovely swing of happy spring. Get my hands in the dirt and walk in the sun without loosing my breath. I made a half mile in 6.5 minutes walking. It was wonderful and I was barely winded. I'm in better shape now then I have been in a very, very, very long time. WHY can't I get a doctor to listen to me, to give a crap, to look past my shape and see that I'm hurting. that would be nice. (and before anyone asks yes my thyroid has been checked, even T3 and T4. How much easier if it was something simple like thyroid.

Hormones can play a big part in weight, boating, etc...
And, no, thyroid is not something simple... It's incredibly complex and a pain in the ass to wrap your head around!!

Hey karla, I'm sorry this is all just a huge mess for you! I wish there was something I could suggest you try or a new doctor even but I know that seeing doctor after doctor is just maddening. I have been taking vitamins like a mad woman trying to treat myself since I can't get anywhere with doctors. I am still proud of everything you have done to get yourself healthy. Don't give up!

Thanks Jenaya! Maybe you can help me? I was looking over my labs trying to find any clues. Like Karen has said before optimal and normal are not the same. I keep finding this thing about eGFR on all my labs. "persistent reduction for 3 months or more in an eGFR <60 defines CKD. Patients with eGFR values >60 may also have CKD if evidence of proteinuria is present." Mine is >59 and I looked back at a blood draw over a years time. The first a year ago, another in November and January 2011. It has remained low over all the tests. So I looked it up online and tried to find information on what CKD meant. Turns out its Chronic Kidney Disease. that was a surprise. I looked up the website www.kdoqi.org and normal for my age and creantinin, serum level would be 108. Anything >60 is considered stage 3 kidney failure, but maybe I'm looking at something wrong because I keep finding differnent numbers. I'm so confused. I just don't know if I'm reading my labs right? re: Karen. That was sarcasm on the "something simple like Thyroid." My sister has thyroid problems. When hers is balanced she looses weight, when its whaky she can't. She goes in every three months for blood work to adjust her meds. Its far from simple!

I promise I wasn't trying to insult those with thyroid problems. I'm just super frustrated right now with the weight issues etc. I think I may have hit on something with the kydney thing but I always think that when I start researching something. The list of symptoms for CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) was of course right spot on: feel more tired and have less energy have trouble concentrating have a poor appetite have trouble sleeping have muscle cramping at night have swollen feet and ankles have puffiness around your eyes, especially in the morning have dry, itchy skin need to urinate more often, especially at night.
I called my doctors office and asked to speak with the RN about the numbers. I will just have to speak to the Doctor about it on monday when I have an appointment. She said my creatinin and BUN should be higher if I have kidney disease but the Kidney disease foundation said the eGFR is enough? I don't know, I think if my doctor blows me off on monday I will get in touch with my Urologist

When you say that your level is >59, is that exactly what is says on your paper? That is a "greater than" sign which means your level would be greater than 59.
Also could you get ahold of any urine tests done to see if there was protein in the urine?

trace protein in the urine. I don't know about the sign, I always get those confused. It may still mean CKD if I read that goofy paragraph right. Its been going on for longer then three months. I think I should get another urine test though and that would be a good indicator. The urine test was a year ago. I have an appointment Monday that I was going to cancel. It was some kind of weird follow up on my follow up with the cardiologist. (no idea what that was about) so I will ask for the urine test.
