The state of Hawaii just validated the cert as legitimate www.bizjournals.com/pacific/stories/2008/10/27/daily60.html. The copy of the birth cert has been posted for quite some time now fightthesmears.com/articles/5/birthcertificate. The issue was that some people thought it was a fake. Again, if this was really an issue, the McCain camp would have jumped on this so fast our heads would have spun. Looks like a good ol' conspiracy theory. What is a bit disconcerting is a story on Yahoo regarding flyers sent out in a few key areas stating that b/c of the large amounts of people that will be coming out to vote that Republicans should vote on Tuesday and Democrats on Wed. In addition, robocalls were made in FL saying that it was acceptable to vote by phone. Now, obviously the first issue was from Republican camp, but there's no way to determine who was trying to sway who in the second issue. Why can't they just let us get out to vote without trying to fool people? People involved in this should be imprisoned. OK, seems like my first link doesn't work, let's give this a try ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iw1At-4G1xuE50oXVFRlBPfR3dqgD945OLU00

I think a lot of people don't believe state officials and want it forensically proven. I's go for that. And I dont' trust the fight the smears site of obamas for anything.

How can it be forensically proven? Do you want to see the original one from back when he was born? I mean, I don't have a copy of my original birth cert and neither does my mom, but the one that the state provided to me a few years back for my marriage cert, passport, license, etc is acceptable. I don't know many people who have the original one. The same copy has been posted on other sites, it was just the one that I picked.

Paper forensics. The comparative from the one he currently has against others given during that time frame.
Anyway, none of us laypersons can prove wether or not the one in question is either authentic or counterfeit.

Very sad. Sigh. What scares me more is the congressional seats won. Looks like he'll have free reign now. Maybe the Republicans will go back to their roots now and take it all back in 4 years. Hopefully, he won't get to "court pack" just yet. HOPEFULLY.

It can't be all bad. Voting in a black democratic president says good things about a country that the rest of the world has poo poo-ed for 8 years near enough. It tells me that people are open to change. So congrats to Obama and here's hoping he turns things around like is hoped for. If not, elections in 4 years right? I'm just glad not to see that rabid bitch get anywhere near presidency by default A few of my friends studied American politics at uni and tell me we have it much worse over here in terms of the 2 evils (Labour or Conservative to crap all over the man in the street?) and that political ties aren't as '1 or the other' are they are here in the UK and other western countries. Don't treat it as all doom and gloom ouchy! Just wave a happy goodbye to that daft idiot who's been ruling the world for faaaar too long

That's how I'm looking at it Cherry! This is just bad news for my parents, as they own a small business.... I don't mind Obama, but this election has been a scary one and I'm just praying we've made the right choice.

First we win the world series and now the White House... it feels good to win after 8 years of losing. I do feel for you Ouchy, since I know how you feel. I was devastated for the last two elections. It gives me hope that so many people came out to vote and that racism did not play a part in their decision. The repubican party does need to rebuild - not only did Bush bankrupt the country in 8 years (like he's done with every business he's owned), but he destroyed the republican party. I think we will feel the after effects of Bush for some time to come. I think the change Obama is promising will be slow and won't be seen immediately. I hope he can make the right decisions to get us back on track as a nation and in the world's eyes. He has a rough road ahead of him.
We also own a small business, but are under the $250,000 cap... my advice to your parents Tess is to get a good tax guy, they can do wonders. We make more money now than when we were employed and pay way less in taxes (which I know is the case for these huge corps). If we can actually grow our business to over the cap, I would be so excited cuz it means we are growing and would hand over the extra 4% or so happily if Obama can turn this country around. Someone has to pay for Bush's mistakes, and although I did not vote for him, we are stuck with his mess.
Am I happy that caribou barbie will go back to Alaska for good? You Betcha!!! I would have been terrified if she was a heartbeat away from the presidency!! Maybe now the wolves can chase her around in a helicopter with guns and make her run until she is exhausted so they can 'hunt' her. I still don't understand how that is a sport, especially when she's not even on the ground.
I guess I can throw away my "don't blame me, I voted for Obama" shirts :-)
Seriously Ouchy, I do feel awful that you are so upset! I know that there are a lot of people waking up today feeling the same way that you do. I was very nervous last night in the beginning and know that I would have been feeling the same way that you do right now. I hope that Obama will come through for you so this is not so bad. I know that I never felt 'good' with Bush as president. Take care and I hope things get better. As Cherry said, there is always another election and if the people aren't happy, they will make the change. Who knows, in two years, if the reps can get it back together, you can take the house and senate back.

Thank you to all who voted - I am very glad it went the way it did. Sorry Ouchy but I think change can be good even when you don't support that party.

Staceys... their company brings in over 1 million a year :\ So, I'm not sure how this is going to effect them. I guess time will tell. They're not so worried about the tax raise as they are the economy. They were very anti-Obama...
As far as Palin. I'm *so* glad she isn't our VP. The woman got pranked called and didn't catch anything those guys said. As soon as she started talking about the PM of Quebec, I turned youtube off....

Wow Tess... Kudos to your mom and dad! I think they would have to pay about 4% extra on what they make over 250,000 minus all of the write offs. I wish our company could compete with that. I hope everything works out for them. Most people I know are worried about the economy, which seems to be the one of the main reasons Obama won.

I don't know about Roosevelt enough to have an educated debate, but I do know what has happened in the past 8 years and that's enough for me, and obviously the majority of the country. Is Obama the ideal candidate? I'm not sure how much I'm sold on that and only time will tell, but handing it right back to the republicans was not an option for me. I don't think any republican candidate would have won with the mess we are in thanks to Bush and his buddies. I hope he and his buddies enjoy the crapload of money they made while the rest of us suffer. In my opinion, Obama won't turn this mess around anytime soon (I don't think McCain could have either), but I think the country was fed up with what happened and they said it loud and clear last night that they don't approve of the past 8 years and don't want more of it. Wasn't it McCain that voted with Bush, what, 90% of the time? Thanks, but no thanks, I'll take my chances with a new face. Go Obama!!
