Yep. I SO need to go back on my insulin resistance diet. My baby's probably being exposed to too high levels of androgens. I'm glad you're feeling better!!!! Keep up the good work!

Tiff - This is from "What to Expect When You're Expecting" by Murkoff, Heidi; Eisenberg, Arlene; & Hathaway, Sandee, BSN, C 2002, Page 189:
"No Peanuts For Your Little Peanut?
It's long been known that parents who have or have had allergies may pass allergic tendencies - though not necessarily the specific allergies - to their unborn child. Some research suggests that allergic mothers (or mothers who have had allergies in the past) who eat highly allergenic foods (such as peanuts and dairy products) while they're pregnant or nursing may be more likely to pass on allergies to those foods in their offspring. If you have ever suffered from allergies, speak to your practitioner and an allergist about whether and how you should consider restricting your diet during pregnancy (and postpartum, if you'll be breastfeeding)."

Akcheryl, Thanks for that. I have the book and have read this section, but I have done plenty of research and talked to 3 different Dr. and they have all said that they have never seen this to be true and feel my health is the number one priority right now and I need to be eating what makes me healthy and what helpes to keep my unborn child healthy.

I JUST noticed the linea negra (the dark line going from the public bone to either the belly button or xiphoid process)! I'm 10 weeks today, and I've read that the line most often shows up in the second trimester. However, I also read that it's usually more prominent in darker-skinned women (and I'm only 1/2 caucasian). Has anyone else noticed a linea negra yet (tiff, ouchy...)?

Nope no line yet, some woman do not even get it. Some get the discoloration of their face and I hope I don't get that. Are you showing yet Akcheryl? It was so weird on Friday I was able to wear my regular pants with a belt even when i woke up on Saturday I can not even zip them up. And I have lost weight not gained weight. Thank god for Belly Bands. It has saved my life. I want to get the line on my belly I think it is cute, so congrats on beating me to it I am a mut, but have blonde hair and blue eyes so the dark skin is no where to be found. Maybe you are right about it being more prominant in dark skin woman. Is your line real obvious? Are you getting hair on your belly yet?

I don't have the linea negra yet. I don't really want it. LOL. I will be 16 weeks tomorrow, and I'm still fitting in my pants. I bought a belly band, too, just in case, though. I think I'll need it soon. I have a little baby bump, but I don't think others can tell I'm pregnant or anything. And I still haven't gained weight! I am able to eat more things, so now I am pretty much back on the insulin resistance diet so my kid doesn't get insulin resistance, too. I doubt I'll gain a lot of weight if I continue eating healthily. I have to get my AFP and Tay-Sachs screening done on Monday.

Oh. The ligament stretching pains have come back, too, for me. I had a long break of not having them, but as my uterus started to pop out of my pelvis, the stretching started coming back.

Uh, no belly button hair! I have noticed some skin "breakouts" (if you can call 2 small, almost unnoticable blackheads a breakout), which is really odd for me (I've never had any acne problems in my life).
I'm a little "poochy" in my lower abdomen, but not really showing. I've actually lost 12 pounds (and was given strict orders not to lose any more), even though my breasts are about a size larger than normal (I'm now a DD!). I still have the stretching pains at my round ligament, and I feel like my uterus is really pushing my bowels out of place.
I'm half white, half Native, and have black hair, darkdarkdark eyes and olive-toned skin, so there's probably a bit more melanin in my skin to contribute to the linea negra than in most caucasian women.

Cheryl, I keep asking!!! Are you having twins? ?

I'm sorry! No, we think there's one baby, although there's a SMALL possibility that there's another little guy hiding out behind the first one! I was thinking that I kind of don't want twins anyway, because kids are babies for such a short period of time and I really want to be able to enjoy it (and not have to divide my attention).

I do not look pregnant to some one who does not know. But I think if people knew they could tell there is a little growth. I too have not gained any weight just lost weight. I went in for another ultrasound on Tuesday and had lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks.
I was already a little underweight to begin with so my Dr. is now concerened with the rapid weight loss.
I too am in a bigger bra about a size bigger. I am now a D but my boobs are no looger sore, Yay!
I just started having constant cramping about the last week and was a little worried, but to hear you have experienced it too makes me feel more at ease.

My boobs quit hurting but then have recently started hurting again. My areolas and nipples have also gotten darker. I lost about 10 pounds the first part of my pregnancy. I just haven't gained any since losing. My OBGYN told me to drink Ensure for Pregnancy drinks, but I prefer Carnation Instant Breakfast.

Yeah they told me to drink ensures too. But I have been drinking then since about a week after I found out i was preggy. Are your Dr. really worried Ouchy about you losing weight and not gaining any? This is a personal question that if you do not feel comfortable with you do not have to answer, but were you at your ideal weight when you got preggy? I was wondering if this may effect certain symptms.
