Yup...I just lay there and look at the clock too!!! I used to be such a good sleeper, I never had problems.
Another problem is narcotics hype me up so when I take a Darvocet it helps with the pain but does not knock me out. I liked Naproxen it did help me for a short time.

I have problems sleeping too.Pain keeps me awake and most nights I just can't get comfortable. I've laid in bed and done a lot of clock watching!!! I'm on Tylenol 3's for pain and they help me sleep because they make me quite drowsy. My favorite way has to be sex. I know that some women are unable too due to extreme pain and advanced endo. Endo is quite good at robbing women of the simple pleasures in life If you are able take advantage of it!!!! After a round of great sex it's lights out for me. Studies have also showed that you feel less pain during sex. Yes it's temporary but any little bit of relief can help. My husband also loves this sleep aid (lol) I hope this can help some of you ladies. Take care all of you. Rin

Unfortunately I am one of those who cannot have sex anymore.
I used to take the T3's after surgery, but because of the codine it wasn't a good idea to continue taking them. I think I'm going to have to so some homework on what is available for this situation. There have to be more people out there who feel that nothing they have tried works! If I find anything I'll be sure to post here.

I'm not a big fan of taking the Tylenol 3's because I've had family addicted to them, so I'm careful. A pain reliever/sleep aid that isn't habit forming would be great. Keep us posted!!!

Well Rin I could use your sleep aid..but there is no way!!! The thought of it just puts me in more pain.
I hope when I go to the Gyno next week we can figure out a plan to help with the pain. Till then pain meds are my only hope.
I do not have an addictive personality to drugs that is, but I use them with caution for sure.

I too suffer from lack of sleep. I've found that over the last year I've had more and more trouble sleeping. I've never been asound sleeper but this year has been bad. A few hours at a time maybe almost every night is getting to be too much. I listen to audio book CDs (ones I kow the story so well I don't really ahve to follow) and it helps. My problem is anxiety though. i can sleep becuase as soon as a sit down or lay down and stop doing things, my mind gets full of problems or things I didn't do. Then, I can't clear my mind enouigh to sleep. You want to know the real kicker? When I was young they wanted to use me in a biofeedback study because I was so good at tuning things out and going "inside myself". Somehow, since university, I've lost the ability. I'd give anything to be able to clear my head like that again. I'm starting to scare myself with pills. ANy excuse to take a gravol or t3 just so I can sleep. In toher words, I kow what you mean and I wish I could help.

So last night I broke down and took a sleeping pill along with my meds to get a good sleep. I was able to sleep soundly for about 4 hours... then it was toss and turn all over again. I even went down to the couch thinking that maybe a change in comfort would help... that didn't work either. Again its the pain keeping me up. I just thank god that I'm not working right now since it keeps getting worse... I have no idea how I would be working!! Candice - have you tried talking to your doctor about the anxiety? I know how hard that can be as well. I find that the more frustrated I am about not being able to sleep, the longer I am awake! Its almost self inflicted. I like you have never been a sound sleeper.. but I do remember a time when it was much easier than this! I figure though that the sleep aid must only really work for about 4 hours at a time just like other meds... I've resorted to taking Niquil or Benadryl just to knock me out. I haven't done that in a few weeks now... I don't want to start again either! It scares me too!

Nobodys been in here for what looks like awhile, but it applies to me so I'm digging it up! I have had a sleep disorder for what I think has been my whole life (I come here when I'm up alone). I've taken otc pills, st johns wart(I believe it's been taken off shelves in Can.), valerian root, chamomile/mint tea, lavender, hot milk, prescribed drugs, nothing works!
Actually, I was taking Seroquel (antipsychotic) to help induce sleep. It helped alright! It gave me seizures and skull-crushing headaches. Yet another story about s*tty doctors, the psyche doc that gave it to me knew I had depression, and over time became overwhelmingly suicidal.
Later on I come to find that one side effect of Seroquel... it's known to induce suicidal thoughts and tendencies!!! So, was my doc trying to see if I'd kill myself or what!!? I haven't found a long term solution to insomnia, I guess that's the conclusion. sorry ne1 reading..
