I have been on the pill for about 2 years now and I have a lot of mood swings. I read that main of you had/have depression but it sounds like it is all teh time. With me it changes throughout the day.
Example: Saturday: I woke up happy and chatty and read to go then around noon I just fell. I was all depressed and cryed for no reason. Then at 3 I made myself stop cause I had to go to an open house and after the open house I was prefectly fine.
It seems that I have one or two bad days a week opn a normal week. But if somethign goes wrong in my family it happans more. During the school year for about 2 months I would have a breakdown about once a week and just cry for no reason.
Is any of this normal?
Thanks. Lita

I have had some terrible mood swings and it may be the pill that is affecting you, as I had the same problem and ended up on Prozac (without my doctor telling me what it was) aged 17 doing my AS level exams. They spaced me out so much that I had resit the exams and started shaking uncontrollably so had to stop them. If you ask you doctor for a newer generation pill (the newer the better) you will probably have less side effects. Also brilliant for mood swings is evening primrose oil! Hope this helps xXx

Is the pill what causes it? Cause this little book my doc gave me said it was actaully endo that does it. And my mom is like 'its normal monthly thing'. But I will see what I can do.
Are the newer generations more expensive?

No in the UK all contraceptive pills are free. Your mother is not being fair to you to be honest, there is 'normal' and then there is endo which is a horribly overblown version of what goes wrong during a period. Believe me I have been through every pill possible up until last year and the variation in your moods with each pill can be massive. It may be the endo but the pill would be the first thing to look at, as with any hormone treatment your moods can be affected quite a bit. Try EPO tho it is relatively cheap and can help so much xXx

Are you hopefully on a monophasic pill (all the same color pills, all the same level of hormones)? 1) best for endometriosis as it doesn't cause the endo to wax/wane 2) best for mood swings, because you dont have hormone fluctuations.

The pills are all the same but the week I am 'off' the pill. I normally don't even take those pills. The other 3 weeks are all the same.

When did you start having the mood swings? I know it is common with pills and that's one reason why a lot of people don't take them. I think it may be related to endometriosis itself, but it's hard to say how. Our hormones are definitely out of whack, so I think it makes sense that we would have mood swings sometimes. But stress can also make your moods wacky and it's hard not to be stressed out when you are dealing with a painful disease.

I remember my family commenting on them about 2 years. That was when I started the pill. I did have some before I was put on the pill. I know the mood swings got worse this year with all stress from school and life.

hi, well im rather having 24hr mood swings or im currently being taken over by aliens, my moods are awlful, i warn my partner as half the time i can feel them coming, i havn't got to the stage of throwing objects yet or people but i find if i go and have a bath, light candles and spend some quality time on my own i start to carm down, im happy than sad, then angry then tearful. but the good thing out of this is i get lots of me time and i smell great with all these lovely baths and hot soapy baths help with the pain. thought my words of wisdom would make you smile xxx

I got to the stage of throwing things at my ex partner and just thought I was losing my mind! I now put it down to the depo injection I was on, since I have come off that my moods have levelled out and I'm doing fine now. I agree about the baths though - I love a nice long soak!
