Has anybody heard about the Ortho Evra lawsuit? I keep seeing ads on it and have checked into it. I tried it, but couldn't get it to stay on. I went though a 1 month supply, in 1 week. I guess my body knew something was not right.

I have heard about the lawsuit, but I dont' know much about it. I actually loved Ortho Evra, until I started having breakthrough which lasted for 2 1/2 months!!!! I finally had to go off of it. I was on it for 8 months, I think. I could never get it to stay on my rear, but sticking it to my abdomen worked fine for me. I really miss it. I hope they will re-formulate it. I really liked that if you got sick and threw up, it was still in your system. I also liked that if you took antibiotics, they didn't affect the efficacy of the patch.

I dont' know the details but the lawsuit is due to the women that died or had strokes from blood clots. The risk of the patch is way higher than the risk of the pill because its the same dose but it is absorbed immediately instead of through the digestive track. I haven't heard any plans to reformulate and as far as I know they are still selling it. It made me completely wacko from the high hormone levels so I only used it for a month.

ortho evra did NOTHING for me (no shock, since depo did nothing as well), and the stupid things kept falling off (and it was hell to try to get a replacement patch).

It made me completely wacko from the high hormone levels so I only used it for a month. And it is classified in the lowest estrogen dose category (20 mcgm) and has a weak progestin.

the stupid things kept falling off (and it was hell to try to get a replacement patch). Oh!! During my lap, my surgeon removed my patch--and didn't tell me!!!!! I had a HELL of a time trying to get a replacement patch, bc I didn't realize until I was already back home! The gyne.'s office had absolutely no clue what I was talking about. Luckily, I had one patch left in the box, so I put that on and fought w/ the doc.'s office the entire next day to get an rx for a replacement patch!!!

Yeah---my pharmacy was clueless as to what I wanted! (I've since changed pharmacies---and am actually very pleased with my pharmacist now).
There was not enough hormones in the patch for me at all! I was put on Ovral afterwards.
