akcheryl, you make me feel like abandoning IUI and just go for IVF..i need lots of patience here..told hubby last time that we will try for 3 more times ..but i guess..if this round does not work, i'll go for natural may be 2-3 times- base on Tony's book then if it doesn't happen will do IVF....your story has push me to just take a quick action..

I am a new member to this site and I was looking at your IVF story. Congrats are in order...I do have a few questions to ask you. I have gone through IVF now 4 times - all failed. They are now saying that I have to look into donor eggs or adoption. I have read so many stories about how endo patients do get pregnant, but it takes up to 7 times. I have been on DHEA now for 1 year, which has helped my egg quality since my first IVF. I was wondering what were your eggs graded at for transfer? I am not sure where you live, but who was your doctor/clinic you went to? I am in Florida (Tampa area). I am thinking about getting a 2nd opinion before we do donor. Thanks for your help.

Belinda, what's DHEA? Also, what level of endo have people have to have 7 goes of IVF - just wondering, as IVF is probably my next step!!

DHEA is an over the counter supplement that has been shown to increase egg quality/production for those with infertility issues, especially with endometriosis, going through IVF. It has shown to work in my case, but I'm still not getting pregnant. Before I started DHEA, I only got 3 follicles with only 1 making it to transfer. (I do have only one ovary) 6 months after taking DHEA, I got 8 folicles, with 5 fertilizing, but only 3 making to transfer on my IVF cycle last month. Since I didn't get pregnant they are now telling me my eggs are no good and need to consider a donor. I'm reading so many stories of others who have gotten pregnant when docs have said to quit IVF, so I was trying to consider possibly going to another specialist first, but there isn't another doctor in the Tampa Bay area (Florida) that I am aware of.

I'm in Omaha, Nebraska.
I have stage 4 endo, but I have (most) of both my ovaries. I only had 8, I think, follicles and 5 eggs... 4 fertilized (they were fertilized through ICSI).
I don't know exactly what grade the embryos were, but I think they were pretty high because they transferred 2 and froze 2 (and low-grade embryos don't freeze well so they don't even try). I'm 25, and I guess that also has a lot to do with egg quality - women especially over 40 usually need to use donor eggs.
I was kind of surprised to only have 8 follicles (my husband and I expected 15!), but my doctor said she wasn't surprised at all. She said women with endo, especially severe endo, don't produce as many follicles as other women.
