I wish I had been temping before my excision, I wonder if there would be a difference! My temps do a slow decline the first couple days but don't stay up (I'll take that as hope most of the endo is staying at bay in there). Rust, that must be really annoying!

At first, I thought it was due to inflammation during those days but I don't feel any inflammation until Day 6 when my temp shoots up to LP proportions and drops back to "normal" on Day 7. I don't start bleeding until Day 1 but I still get the elevated early FP temps. I think it has to be a progesterone lag or maybe something else?
I found another website talking about this calling it the Benjamin effect, after the doctor who discovered it. They were saying that this can be used to diagnose teens before they even start having symptoms. I think that is a great idea!

Hmm, so I overrode my settings on TCOYF to use their 'rule of thumb' to throw out two of my high temps. Since my temps are so erratic, figured it wouldn't hurt to see what my chart does. Well, it lowered my coverline and suggests that I ovulated earlier than I originally thought. I'm not sure which chart to believe, but whatever the case, I'm getting signs that my period is pending soon and it sucks. Attachments:

Sucks to get your period but I'm still amazed to see that you're possibly ovulating after so long!

do you feel it when you ovulate, Karen? or have any changes in CM? that might help pinpoint the day more?
My temps have gone off the reservation this cycle. They have been significantly lower this cycle, and I'm now on day 17 and they are still noodling around with no sign of ovulation. I've had lots of pain, and some ovulation-like CM a couple days ago, but not really normal. Weird.

To be honest, I don't know if I feel ovulation or not. I've only been off BC for 3 years and I ovulated sporadically since then so it's hard to say. I can tell when I've dried up in terms of CM, but other than that, I can't differentiate and it's been so long since I've ovulated that I kind of stopped tracking it! I'll have to pay more attention next month. My temp was still high this morning and I have little pain, but lots of discomfort and have a case of the zombies. I'm thrilled that I ovulated, but the random cycle lengths were kind of nice for reducing the number of times I had to feel like this.
Think your odd temps have to do with the acupuncturist messing with things a bit?

that's so weird for me to think about. I've also been off the bcp less than 2 years, but ovulation is so disabling for me--frequently a week+ of horrible pain. I can't imagine not knowing when it happens. I'm sorry the pre-period is sucking for you, Karen.
I assume that the new things the acupuncturist is trying is messing things up. It's such a ride! and takes so much patience. A good lesson for quick-fire redheads, I suppsoe.

I'm still so amazed that your temps and body show such a drastic change when acupuncture changes! I suppose all of this is a lesson in patience for all of us... And it sucks! I have a LP of 11 days if I use the earlier day at least. That's a new record for me!!!

congrats!!! My LP, for the past several months, has averaged at 11-13 days, which I take as quite satisfactory.
The acupuncture is certainly a trip, that's for sure. I'm at day 18 and still all wacked out--noodling around in the low 97s with no ovulation in sight and lots of pain. Though I've been SUPER horny all week, which normally coincides with ovulation so who knows. My poor husband is getting worn out I think!

Guess who ovulated two months in a row!?!?!? Took me a bit longer this month, but I'm convinced it's because I took a new thyroid med for a few days that completely shut me down for a bit. Overall, I'm impressed that my temps are at least leveling out overall. Not so many highs and lows. A few months ago, they could vary as much as .4 to .5 degrees a day! Attachments:

so just cuz I think it's interesting...
last week was really hot, and we don't have AC in our house. We have a window unit in the bedroom, since it's south-facing and on the second floor. Otherwise, the bedroom is about 120 degrees!! We survived our first summer in the house without AC, but our sex life went into a tailspin because even downstairs it was too hot to have sex w/o getting disgustingly slippery...ugh.
ANYWAY. Because we live in a neighborhood that is not a priority for the DC govt, the power went out on the hottest day of the heat wave from just overkill on the system I guess. So, no AC, no fan, etc etc etc.
After sleeping in that heat, my temperature the next morning was a full degree higher. I was early in my cycle (day 7 or so) and it's normally low 97s. But in the heat it went up to low 98s. By the next day, when we had power again, it was back down. Isn't that weird? I think I must be a reptile or something. Or else it was just really too damn hot.

I love temping - we get to see how all this stuff affects us! Wine raises my temps every time!
(And that sucks about the power... I would have slept with ice!)
