About 2 weeks ago I stayed home from work because I was having bad nausea and diarrhea. I figured it was just my endo acting up so I didnt think anything of it. It then got so bad that I couldnt keep water down and the diarrhea was pure blood. I went to the ER and they sent me home twice with meds that made me sicker!!!!! (not very happy with them about that). Finally my doctor had me admitted into the hospital. I was horribly dehydrated and sicker than anyone thought. They did tests and found out that I actually have Crohn's Disease, anemia, AND i have mono on top of that. I knew nothing about it up until then. They sent me home with instructions to take 20 pills a day and a specific diet I have to follow. Just wondering if anyone else has it. Its bad enough being diagnosed with Endo but to be diagnosed with Crohns as well! I have been out of the hospital for about a week now and it has finally hit me that I have to battle 2 diseases that cause me pain everyday. I just feel as though my world has been destroyed and nobody around me has it so they can't even imagine my pain.

ugh, Honey I am so sorry!! I have been worried about that diagnoses myself but have not gotten the diagnoses yet. I'm sorry your going through this. There are lots of sites for Crohns disease that might be helpful. I did a research on it for a class in school. I believe one of my endo books talked about a small percentage of people with Endo having Crohns or being more susceptible to it anyways.

Thanks! yea i'm starting to get used to the diet they have me on. The worst part is that I cant have dairy so it limits me alot. I think the hardest part is that on the outside I look ok, a little bit skinny because it made me have weightloss, so people assume that I'm ok. I found that to be true with having Endo too. We may look happy and healthy on the outside but inside there is a constant battle. We are just used to wearing smiles on our faces.

Ugh. Sorry you are going through this. I have Celiac and Hashimotos on top of Endo. Each require their own diet and I know the pain it is to stay on top of caring for all of it. I also understand trying to carry on a normal day when you are in pain, tired and just putting on a smile for everyone else. It isn't easy. I'm glad you got some answers though and the more you can find out everything there is to know about Crohn's the more in control you will feel. At least I have found it to work for me. Feel better.

Hey girl you have my sympathies. I have returned to my life after weeks off for surgery. Because I have lost so much weight, everyone keeps complimenting me and assuming I am in excellent health becuase I look good. Well at the same time I am so challenged with all the changes in my health and life. I am not even really able to do much except work 4 or 5 hours each day. then I have to go home and put my feet up so I can work the next day. You have my thoughts. I will google chron's so I'm not so clueless. Wishing you the best, Pretty.

Thanks ladies! So sorry you are going through all of this as well. Let me tell you, us chicks are way tougher than guys!!! The hardest part is that right now since i have so many doctors appts and i have to do so much testing they pulled me out of work and I have to collect disability. I am by far the last person that would ever collect disability.
And Pretty i understand what you are saying, i have to take naps during the day just to function. What surgery did you have if you dont mind me asking?

I don't personally have bowel issues but I do have a friend that has both endometriosis and crohns disease. Her endo is pretty well managed with birth control but her crohns causes her some trouble. She had a really hard time getting a diagnosis. If she goes off the diet she gets really sick. I hate seeing her go through all of that. She tries very hard to exercise regularly and eat right. She's also very very skinny. I'm sorry about the diagnosis. I hope that the diet and the medications help you feel better!

Uh oh, just what you wanted - more issues! Glad you were able to get a diagnosis and a plan, though. I agree with Tamela - learn as MUCH as you can instead of just relying on what the docs tell you. It'll help you feel so much more in control of it rather than it controlling you. If the plan you're on isn't working, keep fighting for a modified plan!
And while you're off on disability, don't beat yourself up about it, just focus on getting well! Better to take the time off work and get as strong as you can as quickly as possible than to try to work through it all and just prolong the healing.
Hugs!

I have a friend w crohns. I do know she is very careful with what she eats just like us endo girls. I agree with Karen take your time and get better. You have to come first work and everything else can wait.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I have IBS so I can kinda relate - I always have to be so careful because I don't want to trigger an upset stomach episode. Take care of yourself and feel better!

Oh my Goodness! That's got to be very, very difficult. I do agree with the advice about finding out as much as you can, though; once you get everything pretty well controlled, you should hopefully start to feel better.
Best of luck to all of you gals with multiple chronic conditions. I admire your strength.

mee too I agree with sunshine. you guys are dealing with a lot of stuff and I admire your moxie! kayko i just had robot excision.... all over my whole body lol just kidding. had a lot, lot, lot of endo removed, my appendix taken out, and she cut into my uterus to get the endo and she re-built my ovaries too. it was an 8 hour surgery, so even though it was just for endo, it was pretty hard for me to recover and I'm still weak and floppy and lame and weepy.... just a mess really but not compared to where you're at now, I'm just hoping for the best for you. it's always easier once you have a handle on it but new symptoms like that must have been scary. wishin you the best! keep us posted....
